What causes alcoholics to smell like glue?

My boyfriend is an alcoholic and sometimes his breath and/or his skin smell like glue. I knew another alcoholic and that's when I identified the smell. Is this common? What is it from?

I think it smells like glue too. I've smelled it on a couple of people I've known who drink too much. In fact, I was just looking this up, which is how I found this forum.

Not sure about the glue smell but there is an odor........

    Your body sweats out the alcohol. My buddy, who use to drink Rum like crazy, would come into work and you could tell he drank last night just by walking past him and getting a wiff of Captin Morgans. I'm not sure why the smell is like glue, but what you're smelling is the alcohol and sweat coming out of his pores.

Hello there!  Are you sure it is a glue smell?  My Ex Husband almost always smells like stale beer...it is a funny odor and hard to put into terms of what that can smell like.  My Dad was also an alcoholic and he too would get that weird smell.  Hope this helps
