Paranoid about something else now

Hi guys. I can't sleep at all. I have so much on my mind and I don't think I have shared this yet but I have been itching like crazy lately. I have been looking it up the internet and it says it's one of the signs of liver damage. I could be being paranoid but I am sure I  have probably done some serious damage to my liver over the years. My brother just died from panreatic cancer but they also found out he had the beginnings of cirrosis. I have also been bruising everywhere for no reason. These little bruises just pop up all over my body. I got a test done last year and I was fine. Does anyone know if you can be fine one year and have liver damage the next? I am just sick with worry over EVERYTHING right now. Thanks for letting me vent. I always feel better after I vent to you guys. (((Hugs))) Your paranoid friend, Ggin35

P.S- I take Milk Thistle every day but if anyone knows of anything else that cleans the liver and/or kidneys please share your info with me!

milk thistle is pretty good.  You can also get body detoxifiers.  I feel you, I get paranoided about S(*t to like my chest hurts when I breath or I feel like my breathing gets heavy when I'm dope sick.  I have also heard about the itching and liver connection.  If your urine comes out tea colored and smelly that is a sign too.

If you have taken enough acetaminophen over the years you could have liver damage but I wouldn't get too ahead of yourself, there are tons of other causes of pruritis( severe itching) and the bruising with no trauma sounds like it possibly could be folliculitis, this often happens secondary to a staph infection. Do you have any type of rashes or boils (even very tiny ones)? Those are two classic signs of a staph infection. Staph sounds scary and gross to a lot of people, but that's only b/c they are not informed about staph. Just like e-coli is a natural healthy bacteria in the Intestines, it can be fatal untreated if it gets into the blood stream. Staph. aureus is also a normal bacteria that lives on the surface of most people's skin, but is dangerous if it gets into the blood stream.

Pruritis, although not usually listed, is a very common side effect of opiates. This can, in some cases, be accompanied by what looks like folliculitis (the bruising you're noticing under your skin). You mentioned a family member that died of pancreatic cancer, brother or cousin? If cousin and related by blood you could be genetically more susceptible to liver, kidney, and/ or pancreatic problems. You should definitely have your liver function tested if you are worried that the tylenol might have caused this. It is a very simple blood test and possibly also a urine test to test liver, kidney, bladder, function etc. Are you currently taking anything with tylenol in it? The herb you are taking could have something to do with your symptoms, this is possible with any herbs, you have to remember they are not FDA approved so have not had the same testing and information as pharmaceuticals and is not manufactured to where you know you are geting the same thing, the same quality, every time. Also, is your urine dilute at all? (is it more clear than yellow or getting to be clearer?) Unless you are pushing water like crazy this can be a sign that your kidneys are not purifying properly.

Just make an appt. with your doctor and if that all checks out, make sure you see a dermatologist. I had similar symptoms a couple years ago and I went through months of diagnoses and treatments, none of which even helped the symptoms to be bearable, from multiple allergy & skin sllergy specialists and one visit to the dermatologist, she took one look and knew exactly what was wrong.

About how long did you take medications with acetaminophen in them? And about how much per day? It doesn't matter if you had none of these symptoms while you were taking these medications, certain conditions can present at any time. There are people who smoke 30 or 40 years and have healthy lungs, no history of ling cancer in the family and have lung cancer 10 years after they quit.

Ther internet has a tendency to worry a lot of people about symptoms that could be completely harmless so don't put too much stress on your body that's very very unhealthy. Just try to relax until you can see your doctor and be sure, there are a ton of possibilities for itching and bruising.

xoxo- D.
