Physically Dependent to Hydrocodone

I have been on Hydrocodone for about 6 years now for my back, I have severe spinal stenosis which causes a lot of pain. I am tired of taking this drug and wonder how hard it is to get of this. I take about 6 7.5's or 10's at the most a day and try to supplement it with Ibuprofen and aleve but it gets painful and I end up taking a hydro. I am hoping to get off this drug and learn how to live with the pain another way? Doctors are so afraid to give out this drug, which is another reason, I am tired of depending on them for the meds and I have been through the joint injections and other injections with a pain man. dr. I guess I want to get my life back as much as I can before I got on this drug and learn how to live with pain. Sorry for the going on and on

I was taking vicodin for more than 6 years. I cut my dose in half. Then when they were gone I went cold turkey. Yep real cold. But you can do it. There is a person on the forum that was getting clean from a dose around yours and she went to work on her day 2.
I was down for the first 2 days. Just up for baths and bathroom. I had valium and ambien for the first 5 days. I used after 2 weeks. then I really went cold turkey, no ambien or valium. But I drank alot of water. made myself exercise. took vitamins and antioxidants. Prayed and posted.
God Bless

I used about 10 hydro/day for over 10 years.

I'm on day 35 or 36 off of them.

It's tough for a while, but it is doable.
And better than living like a slave to those pills.
