I used to get Rx for hydrocodone and give them to my buddy who has a really bad addiction that he cannot kick. Well guess what now I am addicted to them and this is my second day without them. I have been on them for 2-3 months and took about 20 a day. I am ADHD as well and have not been taken my meds for that. Well I decided to yesterday (my first day off of Hydros) and it was all well until night time and extreme naseau, sweating, and headaches occured. Should I lay off of my ADHD meds (amphetamine) while trying to break my other addiction. I am 25 and I am just going cold turkey, basically from 20 a day to nothing. Any advice would be great. Thank you.

You can (and probably should...) continue taking the ADHD meds (ritalin /. concerta?) when discontinuing the hydrocodone.........amphetamines used to be prescribed for the fatigue from opiate withdrawal. Its still a valid medical thing, but I doubt that you would find a Physician that would agree to it these days.

I don't have advice so much as words of encouragement...

Be thankful that you caught this PROBLEM early. You did have a high dosage, but you were only on them for less than 3 months. Some people have been on opiates for years and that just makes it so hard to get through withdrawals.

I think if you're prescribed for something, then you should probably take them, but I am no doctor this is just my opinion.

Hang in there, this will pass. You are a strong person for going cold turkey and realizing that you have a problem. Just take it one day at a time, and before you know it, you'll have stopped counting the days you've been clean. Good luck.
