Please only good results w/suboxone posted

After being put through changing my medicine from methadone to morphine to fentenyl patches(4 times the strength they should have been) and told I was lucky to be alive) I was changed to suboxone last Wednesday.  This was in order to safe me from the awful mess I was in.  I have been able to come down from 16mg. to about 4mg.  It has not been easy and I think I am probably doing it too fast.  I may have to increase it some in order to  live my life. All I keep reading are awful w/drawal stories about suboxone.  Right now, I do not have a chose. I can't see another pain specialist until July 20th.  I know I have been cutting my suboxone so much because I'm afraid if I don't I won't be able to get off.  I've had two back surgeries and am dealing with awful pain.  I really need the relief I receive from the suboxone, but I'm so afraid of it because of all I've read.  Please is there any encouragement out there?

Hey there, you need to speak with your doctor about your taper plan if that is what you want to do at this time. Don't take it upon yourself to start playing with your dose. If taken correctly and you taper correctly, you should not have any issues. Remember there are alot of people with success stories with suboxone,  they just aren't on this site talking about how good they feel. Your main thing right now is to keep you off your drug of choice and that is what it's helping you with. Please work with your doctor, i can't stress that enough. I took suboxone and weaned off and I was clean for five years and had no withdrawals coming off of it. So hang in there and quit trying to taper on your own. Best of luck to you.

You cut your dose by 75% in three days. You'll feel that. I don't blame you for wanted to get away from the Sub quickly but you need to slow it down. It's better to drop by smaller amounts over a longer period of time.

Think about getting the doctor to help you by explaining your position. Also, it's not good to drop down and then go back up on the dose so try not to day that, okay?

You should be fine. Just slow it up a little.

Don't be afraid...when used correctly suboxone can be very effective. I was on it for almost a year...but was misinformed and did not taper the way you ALWAYS should when trying to w/d from it. You need to make sure the docs put you on a slow taper plan when the time comes to w/d...then your w/d experience won't be too bad. I also wouldnt  want to be on sub for a really long time...but that's my opinion. For now..focus on getting off your DOC....keep posting..there are others here who have been on sub too...we're all here to help...good luck!

Hi, I have not had any experience with suboxone but i have read threads where it has helped people.
Don't give up.  Saturday is usually a quiet night with people spending time with their families.  I am sure people will come along and tell you their positive stories.
