Question - Cyclobenzaprine

I dont post much (read a lot though)...a little over 3 weeks clean (again, LOL)...

My right shoulder has been killing me the last 2-3 weeks, and this weekend, seems to have gotten worse; Doc said on Fri, most likely muscular...went through the weekend with Tylenol and today, pain is even worse. I asked him for something "non-narcotic" (he knows about my addiction) and he suggested Cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxer). I've taken this in the past and i remember no "high" feeling, just put me to sleep...

Is it ok to take this? My doc knows about my pill addiction, seeing a counselor, been clean 3 weeks, but this pain is pretty intense...any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks to all and although I don't post much, those that offer/give advice to everyone, Thank you.

Nick
God Bless

I used ucyclebenzaprine for pain after an accident(loved it,) and it knocked the **** out of me(loved not having to feel), then one day I was depressed and had a great idea to take it all and od, it was terrible ,I just about died they had to pump my stomach uck!
If you suffer from not wanting to feel I would suggest ,massage or rubs  I use Kwan Loong Oil(made in Singapore) Imported by sun mind hong , it works well, just be careful where you put your hands after!!!!
I also do meditation at night to relax my body ,guided meditation as well as advil liquid gels or mortrin , Hot bath with epsom salt ,with a bath ball from lush , then the oi,l flannel jammies , good night Irene
Hope this helps

flexeril is not a drug of abuse...relatively safe in the scheme of things..no physically addictive properties and all it will do/like zanaflex/is make u sleepy...and denying urself all mind altering substances is what many have to do...these people do not even take in caffeine..no cold meds...no cigs either cos all affect the brain/alter mod...it is up to u where u need to carry this too...not all have to stop everything..then there r some will abuse everyting they touch//even benadryl/nyquil etc...the safest scenario is to never take mind altering drugs/period/but we dont always live in the safe world..everyone is different ..so there is no one rule that applies to everyone...keep posting

Thanks IBKleen (and everyone else)...i can't take too many anti-inflammatories (Crohn's Disease) =(.

The amount of back/shoulder pain i've had the last 2-3 nights have been rough to say the least...

I'll use the cyclobenzaprine as a LAST resort...

Although I agree with the above posts I also don't think you should suffer. If you absolutetly need something I think that flexeril is your best option. I used it and you are right, it just puts me to sleep which might be what you need. Of course, don't drive while taking it...you know the routine...Good luck!

I would say its ok.

most docs prescribe it because its not addicting.often teh first choice for moderate pain issues. matter in fact most dont find it ENJOYABLE. rather strong muscle relaxer, if I remember right. called flexiril.

Way to go on 3 weeks!!!!!  Yaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!  I gotta agree with IBK.  Have you tried any of the OTC muscle ointments they have??  Some people swear by them.    sara

It is often not a matter of taking a narcotic, it taking a pill. The behavior of "taking something to help with this or that" is what gets us into trouble. It is that constant looking for something to make us "feel" different whether it is better or out of pain.

I hope this makes sense to you because the drug may not be addictive but the ritual is.
