Quiting pills Coldturkey?

Ok, this is it.  Im going to quit.  I have to, its rediculous now.  Im so tired of my own ****....Im thinking coldturkey.....I've gotten alot of different advice about different ways to stop, but I have the week off of work, my dads picking my son up tomarrow night and taking him to his beachhouse for the week....No excuse not to just quit.  I have to take advantage of this week free of work and kids....Can someone tell me what Im in for if I go coldturkey?

Dilaudid, along with the other two meds you mentioned, ARE VERY STRONG PAINKILLERS but I am sure you are aware of that - I worry about the withdrawals you are going to be in, you will have to be VERY VERY STRONG to do this, especially knowing that you can get your boyfriend to get you some,  if you find that the withdrawals are just too much - you might want to look into Suboxone, a lot of people here have had great results with this.  If you are not familiar with the Sub, just google it, it makes your brain believe you have opiates in your system even though you really don't, so you don't have the withdrawals but at the same time you will not be taking any narcotics cuz the Sub blocks the effects of them. Anyway you go, I truly wish you the very best of luck.  Like I said, it will be hard knowing that your boyfriend has access to this stuff  and if he does not get off of of them too, the odds will be against you being able to stay clean.  He really needs to get off of them too - I assume he is taking them illegally since you mentioned him going to pick them up every day, I suppose he does not worry about UPS drug testing him, even randomly?  That sure is a good job to risk losing.

Good Luck.

Love, Cindy

Those three are tougher than some. Buckle up and ride it out. There are many here who have successfully done what you are about to. Do not give up when it gets tough. That's when you need to dig in your heels and stay strong. You can do this.

It depends on what you are coming off of. If it is a benzo or tramadol, you need to taper. If it's hydros or norcos you are in for about 4-5 days of withdrawals. Chills, sweats, RLS possibly nausea and sleepless nights. Look in my journals for the Thomas recipe. It has helped many get through the c/t. It is a guideline. It is not imperative to follow everything exactly so. It is a good thing you are doing. Many even start to feel better on day 5. You will still have good and bad days for the next week but nothing like the first week.
You can do this!

My boyfriend has to work this week....He drives for UPS, so his job is very physical....There is no way that he can go coldturkey with me....Any ideas for me as to how to make that easier on me.  I'm thinking about telling him not to do them in front of me, and not to talk about them in front of me.  And if he has to go get some, to do it before he comes home from work, that way I dont feel like Im a part of the process.  However, I am worried about having the self control when I know he has them and will give me some if I beg him for them.....This is going to be hard.

It will be like you have the flu. This is the perfect week to do it. If no one chimes in with the exact withdrawals, I will post them. Stay calm, it wont be as bad as you think.
Good luck
