Quitting Vicodin

I am currently trying to think of a plan to come off of vicodin. I have been taking about 3 to 4 Vicodin a day for the last year. I do have alot of back pain but would rather not take these pills as I have become dependent upon them to get through the day. I still have about 10 pills left and am wondering if there is a good way to try to taper off of them. I can't afford to miss any work the next 4 days in a row and then I will be off for 3 days. I am married and have 2 little girls and I am trying to do this without my wife knowing any of this as she would be soooooo upset if she did know. I do get prescribed 100 10 mg Valium a month so I should have that for the anxiety part of withdrawl. I have been taking the Valium for about 10 years now for anxiety and have not had any problems with abusing them. Any suggestins would be great.

Thank you! I am not even thinking about the valium right now as I have been fine with those for along time. However, I will address that sometime too in the future. Right now I just want to stop being dependent on the vics. I started out with only 1 in the morning and it has gradually gotten to be my drug of choice whenever I need to get through something. I actually take less valium now than I used too. Probably 2 10 mg pills 2x a day. I appreciate people like you offering advice to someone like me. I am going to try to taper myself off until Friday night and then do my best to get some good vitamins and b-complex pills and I already drink gallons of water a day.

that is alot of valium...but that is not what u r dealing with now..a 40 mg a day habit can be ct'd fairly easily for most but everyone is different/alot of it is upstairs/if only using for a year..exercising thru the wds can help as well as staying busy/and a good vitamin regime with amino acids...if u took 2.5 a day u could make it til ur days off..i would be sure to cut off any supply and tell ur doctor u quit and want to try alternative pain control measures...if u ever quit the valium that would have to be tapered and can not be ct'd from that dose....narcotics are best to quit first as the valium will come in handy for anxiety if u need it...good luck and keep posting
