Shoud I detox

I'm on very high dose of morphine tablets plus dihydrocodeine, zydol, baclofen, arthrotec, paracetamol & oramorph solutiion for my back pain. I have taken this for 5 years & now doctors are saying I need to cut down. They said to stop taking 1 x 60mg morphine tablet which i've done 5 days sgo but itls hell. My wife has found a detox place to get me off everything in 5 days. Would this be a good idea as i'm still in a lot of pain with my back. Hope to hear any suggestions.

My wife is home & yes it is detox 5. The whole family are saying .it would be the best thing for me. 5 days instead of the alternative slow painful w/d. I know I will need something for the pain so I don't know what to do for. The .best. It also seems like a lot of money. We need to wait till my next hospital appt to see what is said before I really. Make any decision. Thanks for advice

.Is the place your wife is talking about called dettox 5. We are from the UK too so i think i knowwhere you mean . I am actually the wife of stilltrying but i had a similiar situation. I had an nudiagnosed rare disease and no one believed my pain and i ended up along with my husban (stilltrying) with a 13yr heroin habit. I started smoking it to take the pain away, but when they diagnosed me i was described mostly the same tablets as you. I m nowon dihydrocodene, tramadol and a temazepam to sleep. The thing is when we came off theheroin i also stayed off my pain meds but the pain was horrendous so it would have made it easier for me to relapse if i didnt take them. This is typical of docs here in the UK though they just suddenly want you to come down but if you go to the dettox place what are you going to do for pain meds. Dettox 5 is for complete dettox. It would be a complete waste ofmoney. You would not be able to cope with your pain with no meds at all. I learned that just because we are addicts it does not mean we must suffer pain.I think you should try ad cut down very slowly if your doctor is adamant that you must come down but tell him that you feel it is too much at the 1 time. It is a lot of tablets you are taking and i kno would be bad w/ds from it but i think you should speak with your doc not go to the dettox place as you would only have to start on them again to keep he pain away. I hope this helps and your free to ask me anything anytime. I think you need a lot more discussing this than just suddenly trying to come off everything. Kim

Not sure. I'm still in a lot of pain so I suppose i'll need to take something to cope with it. This is why i'm not sure detox is a good idea.
