dane I know you're feeling scared and a bit manic about getting through this - so did I.  There is no easy way out and you're going to appreciate the experience down the road once you get past the inital withdrawal/recovery.  No easy way out at all - I mean come on, if there was wouldn't we all know about it?  Of course we would - we addicts always want an easy way out and it's only until we realize there isn't one that we finally get well.  You know that though already don't you?

IHi Dana,

This is just my general observation with regard to rapid detox.

I've heard of this method, but had no idea what the post procedure was like - Sounds absolutely awful!

The times I've heard about it were when it was referred to as "Rock Star Detox".  I saw a documentary that was a "life in the times" kind of series about different rock stars from the 80's who were severe heroin addicts - they all went through this type of detox - the program made it seem like they were in and out of the hospital in a few hours good as new.  (guess that wasn't entirely true).  Oh and it was also on good old Dr. Phil.

Every single one of them that went through this method of detox relapsed within days - one of them was found unconcious (he survived) with a needle in his arm the day he was released from the hospital.

I guess my point is, and Dana, I'm obviously not comparing you at ALL with these guys, is that to them, heroin addition was easily fixed. Pay 20k and get detoxed in a few hours. It was an easy out for them.  (2 later overdosed and did die).  So even if the Weismann method worked like a charm without all of the horror stories, would we learn anything from it?  So many people here post that they would never, ever go back to using because they would not want to go through the hell of withdrawal.

Just my 2 cents regarding rapid detox.

It's called The Weismann Method and it's pretty rough!  Read about from people who have gone through it, not from the website!

It does strip the receptors of all opiates in one procedure, under anesthesia. So, you're detoxed but you're in a basket!  Completely drained and raw, with no appetite, no bowel control, no emotional control. Yuck!

This is not for you. I know you want this over quickly but it's not about the detox Dana. It's about learning to live without pills as a crutch to get you through. Percocet is for pain only!  Now, you can't take take Percocet ever again...it needs to be something else. That's just over for you!

Anyway, just detox the old fashioned way!
