Congrats!! I agree with the crocs comment. When I was on my feet 8-12 hour days they were the only thing that helped my feet. I would also visit the chiropractor. It's amazing how much better you can feel when go. You could also try ibuprofen or Tylenol. I have found the heating pad really helps me. Also icy hot or a good massage could help. I hope things get better for you.
I will try to find out about slip resistant shoes. I had a friend who was very very overweight and was a chef. He had some top of the line slip frees. They were pretty expensive but he swore by them. I will check up on it.
thank u for the many suggestions. As for shoes I have a little extra cushion n mine for work but they dnt offer2much for tread safe shoes(slip resistant so I dnt break my neck lol)Ill get insoles, try the otc meds and ask about the patches on my dr appointment on the 3rd.I used2use the patches i think lidocaine? They worked great but not covered by anyones insurance anymore and cost hundreds I cnt afford it.Im looking n2a chiropractor.I think one n my area only charges a$30copay w/my insurance.A woman at a walk n clinic told me Ican get shots for pain from a doctor down the street and its totally covered by insurance. She said injections.Gotta find out what though.Doe anyone have an idea what shots cause she can give me torodol and celestol???
Thanks alot I will ask the Dr about this..Sorry to high jack your post again overopiates! Ha! lol
PS: If you've never worn Crocs, they're like pillows for you're feet! But ya gotta spring for the real deal. The knock off' s just ain't the same. Good luck on the new gig!
Hi, first things first. Congratulations on the time and the Job! Awesome! I figured I'd put my two cents in. As its already been said, good shoes make a world of difference. But, if you can, a trip to a good podiatrist can make a difference too. Been on my feet since I could walk. And my arches are GONE. Just gone. And my podiatrist set me up with the proper inserts to keep my feet balanced out. It took some getting used to. But after a while, it made a big difference. One of my issues is degenerative disc disease (and a cracked L5 for those who've unfortunately learned the lingo) and the inserts help keep me straight and proper. Also, if possible, switch footwear halfway through you're shift. Or at least slip on the Crocs for you're lunch break. The switch may alleviate some soreness. Works for me. Hope I helped. God bless.
Hi Overopiates, Just saw this and Vic I do have something that I use that I think really helps. It is called a flector patch and it is a Rx. I can even wear it while playing tennis as it adheres to the skin. Another ointment that is a life saver is a product called Badgers Sore Muscle Rub, cayenne and ginger. It can be found at the health food store. Thats all I have for the day to day remedies. Hope it helps.
OK Gang so far we have Shoes, Exercise, Stretching, Swimming, Hot Soaks and maybe a natural pill..So what do we use when we really have some disable issues and are in alot of pain..Anything from regarding a Natural Vit/Min that will also help or even a good cream/oil to rub on???? I do have some Magnesium Oil that works OK! Anymore Ideas???
I am the guy who's friends introduce as the hardest working person they have ever met, happened a couple weeks ago actually. On or off drugs, I have always pushed myself to work as hard as I can and always love the surprise when a client comes home and sees how much one day can make. I got better shoes and I go to the chiro regularly. Stretching and swimming have helped a lot too. I swim because it bends my back in the opposite direction as my work makes me do and takes off the gravity for a little while. I treat work like I'm getting ready to run a marathon. I get a good night sleep, stretch and warm up in the morning, and try to work efficient and steady, and stretch and warm down at the end of the day. I work smart, not hard now. I also take breaks and rest when I need it. I don't have anything to prove anymore, so I do the best job I can, that's all I can do. I'm finding that my clients are still happy with my work, maybe not flipping out on how fast I work, but the quality is beyond what they are used to. So that's it for me, balance once again. I've been called invaluable before, so I look at it this way, if I'm invaluable, then it's okay if I need to leave early for the chiro, or do some lighter work for a day or two. Budgeting my tasks, giving hard tasks to a younger workers, and staying aware of my limitations is working pretty good. I still have pain, but I don't push it until I break. I've even told clients I needed a day of rest after doing a hard job. Most understand, those who don't can find some younger, less experienced person for their grunt work. Hope that helps, but get good shoes for sure, nursing shoes rock!
Good shoes is a must. I would also check with a chiropractor. Mine is a godsend.
There is a natural supplement called astaxanthin. It is an antioxidant and has very strong natural anti inflammatory properties. I have been doing some research on it and it sounds like it really does work. You may want to ask your dr about it before you try it just to make sure it's ok for you. Good luck to you!
I guess doing is now a censored word ha
congrats on the 2 yr mark! that is amazing! good luck with the job....and i agree....good shoes are a must...and the hot soaks at night will help so much! again congrats! very inspirational!!
It's awesome that you are getting out and **** so well.
I only have one suggestion. I am not very well versed in pain control but I do run every day and I know that the right shoes can make a big difference in how your body and feet are affected by the day to day impact of being on your feet. Have you tried to get the best possible shoes for what you are doing? I hope you find all kinds of solutions to your problems friend. Thank you for all of you help on here !
Great job, congratulations, 2 years that is fantastic. I have been clean for 20 months and it sure does feel good. It shouldn`t take you too long to get back in shape at walking and feeling o.k. with your muscles. I wouldn`t think more than 2 months, possibly less. Make sure you have comfortable shoes and maybe insoles. That's great you have recognition for your hard work. Very impressive, you must be proud. Great asset being a team player. Relax at night and have a warm soak, that should help your muscles and put cream on your feet. Keep up the good work.
VIC&jonboi ur ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.Everything has felt different. Most Ive obviously already dealt w/n the past2yrs(thank u for the congrats btw it means a lot).I think its a wait til I get used2it(maybe90days it will ease up)I sure hope so.VICourageous Im shocked@how much I like working sober(mentally)I never really considered that I was always buzzed@work til nows that Im sober LOL(I was high ALL the time)funniest thing is I remember I thought I was doing an AMAZING job back then, that tabs would speed me up or xanax would make me chill made me do a BETTER job.WHAT A JOKE.I work w/ a few people who r clearly high2me(us addicts can spot that asap)they DO AN AWFUL JOB.I am surprised how quickly Ive become as my boss said"a vital part of the team"he said he is thrilled Im there because before I started no1wanted2help each other but I am the person who helps w/o being asked+now people r helping each other a little. The thig I hate is its flatterung that my co workers(every1Ive worked with no joke)have requested2work w/me but its becuase I do so much if the other persons work which isnt very cool.I was flattered about the promotion offer but dnt wnt to be a manager(if i did ive had tons of experience+wouldve applied4that).All it does is give me the title,I cover4the main boss when he's off but he is NO help if he isnt there, turns off his phone so if there r problems they would call me.NO THANX LOL.
Yae 2yrs clean that's Fanbloodytastic, its like everything new ie gym running working, on your feet all day it just takes a lot out of you!! I'd say its your body just feeling the pain till it gets used to doing somthing its not used too. Chin up girl
Hi Girl..This is going to be a good post! I too am doing all natural for my pain and was wondering if I am missing something.I did get the Mobic but it is a strong antinflammatory so I do not like taking anything like that.
I wanted to give you a great Big Congratulations on the Job..You have come a long ways at that job for such a short time..Also proves to me that we can still work our butts off not getting a buzz of some sort..I am very Proud of You! YAAAA!!!
Keep up the Good Work!
Bless
