I'm a member of both NA and AA. Weaver's right, you might have better luck finding an AA meeting closer to you.

At my NA home group we're going through the NA work book. It's called a step study. 5 of us meet an hour before the regular meeting. The book has some reading, and then a set of questions to answer. At home we write out our own personal answers to the questions and then we discuss our answers in depth at the study group meeting. Right now we are on step 5. Like Sarah said, there's no hurry to work through the steps. Take your time. Learn all you can.

The study guide is completely free on-line. Here's what you do: Google "NA Work Book" the second hit on the first google page will say "[PDF]Narcotics Anonymous Step Working Guides - Louisville Area of ..."  That's it. It's a free download.

PM me any time you want to discuss.  Glad to see you reaching out for knowledge about recovery! It all works if we work it. I wish you the best recovery possible.

I just started going to NA meetings and I would definitely join a "big book forum" many of the people at the meeting were already on step 8 or 9. So beginning with other people would be wonderful for me.

My advice is to go slow.  There is no time limit to the steps. The steps are all about serious soul searching.

Take your time on step one, it seems obvious, but it is packed with sel-realization. I live in the mountains too. There are only 2-4 people in our local NA meeting, once a week. Have you looked into AA? That's what I did. Many AA members have had a problem with pills too. I think it's worth looking into. I found an iv recovering covaine addict to be my sponsor in AA. I would have never guessed that AA has changed so much. It's good to go over the steps with other people and after step 4, you kinda have to have others to share with. Maybe start a Big Book group on the forum, I bet people would join. Keep up the good fight.
