SaMe and opiate withdrawl

Hi everyone,

First time poster here.  I am 38 years old and have an addiction to vicodin/norco.  I was taking about 6-7 norcos a day and after they were not available I would take 8 vicodin a day.  I ran out yesterday and starting having withdrawls.  Actually I have been on and off when I went down to the vicodin.  I am tired of this rollercoaster and want my life back.  I want to quit for good. I told my husband this morning and he is being very supportive (I don't think he is very shocked).  I have the vitamins because I did this befor (a couple years ago).  I had a baby 7 months ago and got hooked again after the delivery.  I have been so irritable and have so much guilt. I feel so badly for my husand, 4 year old daughter and 7 month old son (who I must say is very irritable and whining non stop right now which is so hard to take right now).

Anyway.....I have Ultram and took two this moring to help the withdrawls.  I do not like them (they wire me) but help with the withdrawls as everyone here knows...I do know they are addictive and I don't think I will take anymore....I want this all to be over ASAP....I think taking 1 or 2 Ultram a day will only prolong it...Right?

Does anyone know if SaMe is good to take?  I know the recipe says 5HTP...but I know SaMe helps with serotonin and dopamine...(plus helps the liver).  I have a prescription for Celexa but I really dont want to take it.   I have tried SSRI's in the past and they didn't help.

I hope my email made sense....my 7month old is just screaming and I am losing my mind.......I am not looking forward to the next week.

thanks everyone...and hugs to all.

Hi Thanks for the post....

I researched Ultram and know about not taking it with an SSRI...I am not going to take the Celexa I have decided.  I dont think I will take anymore ultram (only took 2) and do Same.....I really don't want to prolong this.  Plus,  my heart races on this Ultram.

It is hard with children but I too can maintain myself around them.....I am ready to be a better mommy and be more present with my kids.  It makes me sad that I have been such a hermit.

Does anyone know if I can do the L Tyrosine and Same?

Welcome to the forum....you have come to a great place to get help and support.
First...STOP taking the ultram...they are harder to get off than the vics. And yes...they will only prolong the wd's.

I don't know anything about SaMe. Other people should be responding pretty soon!

Hi,

It sounds like you're very frustrated right now, understandably. The irritability factor was hard for me and I didn't have a 7 month old. If you want more info on herbal supplements/amino acids click on my name and go to my friends. GoingtoMakeit has a lot of knowledge with this and I'm sure he can help.

It does get better, believe it or not.

Welcome, I am so sorry for what you are going through right now. But as you may already know, the withdrawls will end in a couple of days and then its up to you to stay away from the med. I to am quiting the pills, but I am using the taper method instead of just going cold turky. I also have a baby boy that is 13 monthes old, very hyper and wants 100% of my attention all the time. But he has no clue as to what is going on it certanly not his falt, so I try to maintain myself around him. As for the celexa; you should'nt take it with ultram, cuz the two together can couse Seritonin Syndrom and puts you at a higher risk for seizurs...

Hope this helps, keep posting and let us know how thing are coming along.
