Said "NO" to a Doctor Today for Vicodin/Oxycodone

That's right! I said NO.
I went in for a checkup, and I've been on suboxone for 2 months. This was a substitute doctor who hadnt seen me in a while. He went through my file and said "okay lets see...so you are on antidepressants, you need refills on those, right?....and then you were on some kind of allergy medication...and it looks like you might need a refill on the vicodin? Do you need some more of that?"  I paused, panicked a bit. I said, "No. I do not need that anymore. I am fine."
He goes, "okay, no problem."
WHEW!!!!
I left there, so proud of myself. Yes, I hate the suboxone and yes, I MISS MISS MISS so much the vicodin and percocet feel.  But I have to say no.

Yes, you can tell doctors "NO."  And anyone who lives in Los Angeles, knows exactly what I'm talking about. Doctors push pain pills like aspirin here. The system *****.

I live in California, and know how easy it is to obtain.  If I ask or express the need they will have no problem giving, but I have just never had a doctor tell me that i need like I hear a lot here.....that just sounds weird to me.......

keep the faith.

Thank you Toejam, and every other supportive person for commenting! It was hard to say no, but I did it!  All day I was kinda somber, thinking "man, i could have gotten pills" but I need to trust my instincts and my instincts said no.
Thanks everyone and I'm glad you know what I'm going through. Its absolute hell.

oh they love to push those things like asprin everywhere. i've heard it's particularly bad in california, though. thats the worst part of addiction is knowing how easy it would be to get a prescription. anyway...congrats. even though something like this seems little to other people...it's a huge deal to us when we turn down our drug of choice. it's definitly worthy of being proud of yourself for.
