Sam-E and Amitriptyline

Clean, I'm back on amitriptyline. This will be my second night. Will it hurt to take sam-e in the mornings? I took one this morning and I have felt terrible.  It's worse coming off ambien this time, That's why I taking the amitriptyline. I didn't sleep much last night and I doze on and off all day. I know that's not good if I want to sleep tonight,. Just couldn't keep my eyes open

Tooter...Vicki is SO RIGHT.....it's one or the other.....don't take SAM-E if you are taking an antidepressant.  I commented a bit more on the other thread about L-Tyrosine vs. SAM-E.

I don't know how the Alteril will work if you're taking Ambien.....one is all natural and works with natural hormones that regulate our internal sleep clock and nervine botanicals (the Alteril)....the Ambien is an anti-hypnotic.

Yes...it should continue to work. Try not to stress too much about the sleep...if you're tossing around just get out of bed and read for awhile...take melatonin and have a little snack...always remaining calm...

Hey Vicki, I have some Alteril, I tried it one time, it didn't work for me,  I take the Sam-E in the mornings. Would it still work?

No, don't take them together; it's one or the other.  SamE sometimes helps with sleep issues but it's up to you which one you prefer...Personally, I'd choose SamE.    Sorry you're still having troubles with sleep. Have you tried Alteril?  If you try it, be sure to read the label...
