Seroquel for Sleep

My Dr. has prescribed a low dose of Seroquel for me to help with sleep while I'm detoxing.  I did an internet search for information and found a website that sells this Medication and you don't need a prescription.  I'm going copy and past what it says about how to take it etc., Read everything it says, it is "Totally Crazy."

I wish I could take the Melatonin, but I can't.  All my life I have experienced extremely vivid dreams.  It's almost like I live 2 lives.  My waking life and my sleeping life.  I remember some of my dreams as far back as 3 years old.

Because of the physcial abuse I've suffered, I also suffer from regular, horrifying nightmares.  Melatonin only increased the Vividity and Nightmarishness of my dreams, so I am afraid to take it.

I keep a dream journal that I write down certain dreams in, but some of them are so horrible, I don't even want to put them down on paper.

Sometimes though I have incredible and beautiful dreams.  I also have a whole complex of recurring dreams.  My mind is like a "Dream Library," in terms of recall.

My favorite dreams are my "Flying" or "Dancing" Dreams.  In those, I am soaring 100's of miles above the earth looking down at the landscape below, or I'm dancing in the air, twirling and spinning with such joy.

One of my recurring dreams is being at a big banquet, but I can't decide what to eat, and the food keeps changing places, LOL.

Another is I'm somewhere, and I don't know where I am or how to get home.  I try to call my husband, but I can't reach him, or there is something wrong with the phone.

Another is, I'm trying to find my "old home," where I used to live before I got married.  Or I'll dream I'm back in my "old home," and my mother is still alive, only I can't figure out why she's still alive, when I know she already died.

One of my most common is Men trying to rape and kill me, which did happen to me when I was 16.

Sooo, that is why I can't take the Melatonin.

I totally agree with you.....Reading that I actually felt like I was high UUUGGGG Nasty. I would suggest what works for me. Female 26lbs. 52years old menopausal....Melatonin 1mg x2  30 mins before bedtime, sublingual (cherry flavored) GNC.
I wake up rested, no hangover. Also no caffine after 8:30 and start diming the lights and turning down volume on TV getting my sleep mode going.
Works for me, give it a try~~~

I definitely was not planning to get it off the internet, I just found that website doing a search on Seroquel and it just blew my mind the way it is described and how take it.

I'm amazed that there are not tighter controls on this sort of thing.

First off NO dont get it from an internet but if you are getting it by a doctor you trust for a short amount of time you should be fine.i had NO problem with them

RUN, RUN from Seroquel!!! They are the victim of multiple lawsuits at present. I was given Seroquel by my doctor for anxiety and insomnia. Neither of these are FDA approved uses, but the VA try's to avoid any "addictive" medications. Well it WORKS for insomnia-you will sleep like a rock and FEEL like a rock the next day. I also gained 45lbs in 3 months!!! I have weighed in the 120's to lower 130's my entire adult life! A friend who had gone off of it due to this same problem advised me to start monitoring my blood sugar. Sure enough-I had FASTING levels of 200!!!! I went off a few months ago, blood sugars now run in the 70's and I've lost 28 of the 45 lbs. Please be careful with Seroquel!!

Seroquel is being used by many doctors for sleep - my doctor gave it to me to help with sleep after I detoxed because it is "non-addictive".  The dose for sleep vs. "anti-psychotic" is very low - I was prescribed 25mg and actually split that in half.  It worked very well, but I did not like the way it made me feel the next day, I felt kind of moody and groggy, but for short term help for sleep, it does work.  It is a prescription drug, so don't mess with online pharmacies.  You say you were prescribed it by a doctor, so get it from your local pharmacy.

    Just a little info. I purchased some Phenergan online because I don't have a PCP. When they came to me I noticed the package said 10mg/each pill. They don't even make 10mg. I couldn't find it online or when I spoke with the pharmacist, he also said there is no such thig as 10mg Phenergan,( just 12.5mg and 25mg). I bought it from a company located in the U.S., so I thought it was O.K., but that company gets their stuff from India. EVERYTHING comes from India. There is no FDA to watch out for us, and customs DID open my package, then let it through,(I could tell they did because they left a big sticker with the word "Customs" on it, with a signature and note to let the package go through, then someones signature.
    I also got directions almost exactly like that. It's one country trying to copy the directions from another country, but sometimes they don't have words that mean the same as what we would say. Be CAREFUL when ordering online.
    Like I said, the company I ordered from is in the U.S., but not their product. Once I spoke w/the pharmacist, I threw those pills away, actually, I brought them to the pharmacy and let them throw the junk away.

  Be very careful about ordering prescription drugs without a prescription! Many people have been 'busted' by doing this.

Many doctors are using seroquel to help for sleep durning wd .It does not mean you have have any mental illness. Its just to sleep you threw the worse part of wd .BTW it is precription drug but just like most drugs these days if there is a will to buy something the is a way ..
