My Dr. wanted me to try it for my GAD and Panic attacks, It does have that knockout power, but I also contacted a few DRs and Nurses that I know and also read ;up on it and now the Government is saying that it causes Diabetes in long term use. Not everyone, but a good percentage have come up with Diabetes.   Both DRs and one of the nurses said the same thing, about the Diabetes. They are still trying to determine why it is causing this. I didnt like it all and when I heard it can cause Diabetes, I quit Immediately, and I had only been on it for a few days.                                Jay Dean

while in his first rehab, my son was given seroquel...added to the antidepressant he was on...for sleep.   his body became very dependent on this drug and without it, he absolutely could NOT go to sleep.  at the long term program,  i asked for him to be taken off of it and he had to taper down and it took weeks, if not months, before he was able to get back into a normal sleep pattern.

Sorry pressed the wrong button.  Seroquel is also a drug that drug addicts don't like because you don't get high from it, you just go to sleep.

Seroquel is an anti-phys, drug, but some doctors give it to patients for sleep. My husband takes it every night to help him sleep. I have taken it to help me sleep.  You may not be able to do anything after you take it.  It does make you sleepy and puts you out cold.  Don't take it during the daytime or you will act like a zombie.  Some people take 25mg. and some take up to 400mg. My husband takes 100mg at a time, but only for sleep.  It helps some people to not try and commit suicide.  So it has a lot of uses.  Your doctor will be the one to tell you what is best for you.  Good luck.

God Bless

Hi, how are you doing?  That is a drug that they gave my ex-b/f when he was in the psyhic ward.  It is really strong.  I just asked him and he said they are killers.  He is about 200 lbs and said 25mg would knock him right out.  When he was at his worst he would only take 2 ea total per day = 50 mg's so i would be really careful with those.  I think i would stay away from them.

My husband currently takes Seroquel. As far as I know there is no black box warning. He takes 400mg 2x's day!!! I took a 100mg seroquel ONCE and my face didn't even move, I could hardly stay awake. Now if I need to sleep I'll take a 25mg dose. Let's just say they aren't a medication to fool around with. Like the package says "Anti-Psychotic". I personally don't understand how my hubby can function on it, well I guess he does sleep alot. Hope this helps, but be carefull. Oh, he's also gained 30lbs in 2 1/2 months.

I'm just afriad to take it, because of the side effects I've taken anti-depressants B4 and they gave me pretty much the same symptoms of w/d-ing.

Thanks for you're reply

Is that the one that got the "black box warning" on it... cause it caused liver damage??  I know it started with a S..  I wouldn't take it without serious need and research

Here's what I read, in short:

Seroquel is an antipsychotic medication. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in the brain.

Seroquel is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (manic depression).

Is that what he gave them to you for? The side effects listed were too many to list here. Be careful.
