Addicted to pain killers, would like a friend

Hey all - i am addicted to pain killers and would so desperately like to get off of them but my willpower is really low.  I got into an accident a while back, and long story short, i cant seem to get off of the pain killers.  I am so sick and disgusted with myself.  What I really need is a support group or some friends who have gone through this to talk to about this.  I cannot talk to any of my close friends about this because i am so ashamed of myself.  If you are going through the same ordeal or have gone through the same ordeal, i think you and I should talk.  Please message me through this forum and I will send you my email address.   All i want and all i need is some emotional support through this time in my life, and if you are in need of the same or have been through this, i would love to have you as a friend.  I am looking forward to meeting some great people on this forum who are going through rough patches in their life, just like me. Thank you so much in advance.

Just want to say welcome and DITTO what Kyle said.  If your willpower is low, out yourself, red flag yourself and then when you get weak, you will have no ability to get any.

Welcome...What you can do to prevent screwing up is call and cancel the prescription. It's easy. If you can't then you need to get honest with yourself about stopping. Or - since it sounds like you have a refill coming up, you could use that to taper; easier on you physically, but hard for most of us to do. If you have someone you can trust to give you the pills per your taper plan then that might be a good way to go. Bottom line is - if you do want to stop, eventually you have to cut all sources. If you don't, the odds of relapse are high.

First off, have you done research on Kratom? If not you should and think twice about it. Secondly, if you want to do this you need to set yourself for success. Cancel the refills BEFORE you begin the withdrawal process. I promise you that the bottle will be at the pharmacy calling your name. No one is that strong. Get all of the obstacles out of your way and get the things you will need for the detox in your home.

Well, I bought some Kratom which helps eases the withdrawal symptoms.  I plan to take this in place of pills and then ease off the kratom.  The only thing that can screw me up is if i decide to refill my perscription!

Thank you for your response.  I dont plan to get personal with anyone, i just want to chat and get my emotions off my chest and sometimes going public forums doesnt give me the emotional outlet i am looking for.  I appreciate your advice, though.

So yes, i am still using, i do have a plan to quit.  I just need the willpower to stop getting them.

Hi & Welcome,

The purpose of this particular community is to give support to the members who are struggling just as you are. It is a great place and there are many members who are right where you are or have been clean some time. You will get lots of support, encouragement and input.

Just to say this---you are on the internet. You are vulnerable right now. Please, please be cautious about giving out personal information. You don't know who you are talking to. I suggest that you stay here in the open forum and get the support before venturing private. Just my two cents.

So where are you at right now? Are you still using? Do you have a plan to quit?
