I've never has a problem with employment drug testing.  I think they are looking for street drugs, pot, coke, meth etc..  they aren't concerened with prescription drugs.

Correction: Thebaine is an opiate derivative, but acts as an OPIOID in the brain, not an OPIATE which are different.

However, if it is just a generic opiate test, opioids and opiates (I think) come up as one in the same even though chemically they are different.

Suboxone is made from thebaine (opium-derivative)

Therefore it is an opiate. Which would lead me to believe that if you were tested for opiates, it would come up +.

If you do research on the chemical structure of the drug, it is very clearly an opiate.

Which is why it would make you test positive for opiate usage...........

Agree with paadict...as much as i accept addiction with no prejudice..the fact is many emplyers would not like it and sub broadcasts it...when u r in ur job they would have to go thru hoops to fire u or u could sue them if it was due to sub and u had an rx...however..upone getting a job and u r not empleyed yet...could be sticky...i would avoid telling the truth on that one when they asked for my list of meds...and i would gamble that they did not use the high dollar drug screen..if caught i would cough up the rx...just be sure u have not taken any other narcotics or benzos that u do not have a scrip for,....it checks also for pot, cocaine and amphetamines

no it is not  done on a regular screening for employment, like Worried said, most employers don't spend the money . BUT some do.
It can't show  as an opitate either.
A friend of mine on the program that goes to a different suboxine dr (then me) didn't think his dr was actually sending his urines out, he thinks he is just charging  patients for them. So one day he brought a urine in that was some suboxine powder, a very mute amount, some coffee with a small amount of water . Gave it to the nurses. When he was called back the Dr told him that his urine didn't show any suboxine !!! Accused him of selling the drug! All of which was wrong. . Some docs are out there for the money from suboxine, same as addicts that abuse it. This dr. claims he does dip stick urines, My doctor sends my urines to an outside lab which I turn into my insurance . I don't believe that dr. I believe he ripping of insurance companies & patients.
Even with the script I also wouldn't want my employer to know. I had a pre employment urine with the job I am at now. Before I started the suboxine.Of course I had to stop the morphine b/c I didn't have a script for it. But  did for the vic''s!! So even though I flunked the test, since I had script I was hired. I was higher then & no one questioned me.!!
Now I have worked  there 6 years. If for some reason they would do a drug test and I have suboxine with a script I feel more procteced now. Like they can't fire me b/c of it.
My work involves sitting in front of a computer for 8 hrs. I don't drive, or interact with the public.
Good luck to you

I was told by my doctor and the test lab, that it does not show up on a urine drug test. They must test for it specifically.

I can see why u would be a bit worried even if u do have a scip....alot depends on the job u r applying for but in my field i sure would not want to write down that i took sub even with a scip...I was under the impression that there is a special screen for the drug and it is not detected on the 5 panel screens most employers use as cost is an issue with the more specific tests...the doctor who prescribes it often tests ur urine...there is a difference in the 2 as he wants to be sure u are taking the sub and not taking narcotics so it would seem that sub does not mimic a narcotic on a standard drug screen...there are expensive screens that can differentiate but i would tend to think it would not show up on a standard 5 panel screen....i do know someone who paseed their drug screen/5 panel where i work..she is a nurse on sub/with a scrip but did not want to get into the addiction thing so she did not say she took it....it came back ok...if it woulda come back bad..then she was gonna say something...i will check into it further if i can at work

And yes it does show up as + for opiates.  When I was in treatment, a guy got sent back to court because he was taking sub that wasnt precribed and it showed positive for opiates in his urine test.

If you have an RX why are you worried? Or did you just say that?
