Suboxone Detox

Ive been on suboxone for around 2 years and decided to quit taking. My doctor was really just in it for the money and didnt even know what Subutex was. So he had me taking 5 8mg tablets a day! Yes thats alot. But i only took 16mg aday at most.  So i decided to stop seeing him and taper down and get off. Well being the addict that i am, i should have realized that ive never been able to taper off a thing in my life! So tomm. Ill be jumping from taking 12mg's of suboxne a day. I know its gonna suck but i do want off very badly and want my head clear again. So everyone wish me luck. I do have some clonidne, nuerotin and trazodone. The trazodone is just while im detoxing. I take the others always.

I'd like to know if RAFE made it? Did you? I notice a lot of people stop posting after they get so far. I can tell you were wding b/c of the way you were typing - I am the exact same way. However, your attitude seemed great! I'm jumping from .125 1/2 of a 1/4 2mg pill - basically NOTHING and I feel like complete SH**! And I'm pregnant, so I thought it would be easier, due to the reasons why I want to quit. Tonight, however, I took 1/2 of a 500 vicodin. It helped me be able to clean the house and take a shower - but we'll see if I can sleep.

I have been on suboxone for almost a year and a half because of an exhausting life altering opiate addicition.  I jumped off at 6 mg a day about three weeks ago, then I took 1 mg for five days in a row along with some catapress and ativan.  The two weeks since that last dose were hell.  I'm very impressed that someone can jump off at such a high dose and feel very little withdrawl syptoms.  Today is 15 days clean for me and I'm feeling better everyday, but I still sleep very little (maybe 10 hours in 14 days).  I do feel as though I finally have my mind back and my connections with family, friends and co-workers.  Although I am getting clean my spirituality needs a lot of work.  I try to goto meetings daily and work the steps.  I do realize that God is the only one who can truly get me out of this mess.  I have been on a health kick too, using any method to beat this addiction I can.  I use saunas, exercise and walks in sunlight to help.  I drink tons of water, three meals a day and I force myself to interact with other people.  The Thomas recipe has helped.  I weighed 165 at one point in time, but the sub abuse took me down to a lowly 120 lbs.  I'm finally gaining some weight back.  I take supplements and vitamins daily.  I willing to try everything and anything to keep myself clean and feeling good. I feel I still have a long way to go, especially to regain the hope about life I once had.  I get tired and fatigue very easily, but everyday is a little better.  I feel with the help of God...and ONE DAY AT A TIME, I will get there.  Afterall, good things in life are worth fighting and they will make us stronger in the end.

Well its been over four days since i juped off 12mgs Suboxone .After being on as high as 45mgs (for chronic Pain) over the past two years,Because i kept od'ing on other opiates. But around 12-16 mg for the last year. Its been 98 hours and ive only gone thru maybe a 3 on a scale of 10 to what my normal opiate WD"S have been.So I would say to anyone who may be nervous about all the stuff you may have read about sub wd's dont be. Im done with Sub's its wd's on me have been weak at best. If this changes ill let ya'll know. Hell  think im feeling better now. so i hope im helping someone out there. And yes i to was frighten and expected terrible things from subs wd. But it hasn't yet come to pass.

Tks you've helped me also. Well its been about 70 hours since my last dose and i really still dont feel real bad. I mean it hasn been anything like the opiate Wd's that ive had in the pass. But we will see. Im eating ok and still excersing and going outside and doin stuff. Im gonna get past this. I sill give credit to suboxone for saving my life. I started taking Sub after a few Overdoses, so i was on my way to death. The using addicts life was pure hell for me. So keep on praying for me and ill keep on giving up dates.

Hi Rafe, I am glad that you are doing well.  Like NorcoQueen said, everyone is different.  Suboxone is a partial agonist, so technically speaking it should be an easier withdrawal, but since the halflife is so long, it can be harder for some.  You are correct, exercise and vitamins and a positive attitude really will help a lot.  I think you are doing great.  two more days and the sub should be well on its way out of your system, so keep doing what you are doing.  Glad you have some time off, that will help a lot too.  Great Job - I am proud of you for saying no to the offer you got today, keep up the good work.

I dont think they do, but some docs may have stock in that company. Well its been fifty hours and im still not feeling terrilbe. Hell i just ate chili! And have been working outside today. Its beautiful here in south Louisiana today. So im still waiting, but im very postive. A person called me about thrity mins ago wanting to know if i needed any. (great friend huh) I said nope its time for me to quit and  i dont have money for that stuff anymore! So its be that long and im hanging in there. To me its abou a three on a scale of ten from what the wds ive gone thru in the past coming off other opiate's. Thank all of you and ill keep letting ya'll know how im doin.

GOOD FOR YOU! So glad to hear that you are ok! Some say its pure hell...some say they imagined it would be much worse than it really is.  I guess everyone is different. I have also heard vitamins and exercise are very important during the withdrawal process. Please keep us posted!

LoandTansMom, you should be OK jumping from that low of a dose.  I was also on sub for about 4 years, but I had a rough time and did an 8 day detox.  It was definitely much easier than going through a full on withdrawal - which I had done before.  I have had a relatively easy time, been clean for 5 months and have not had any cravings what so ever. Keep us up to date on how you are doing to, congratulations on your taper.  All the best.

Good Luck to you!!! I will soon be jumping from sub and I'm so not looking forward to it. Of course, I want to let go of the crutch but I've been on it for 4 and a half yrs! I'm down to 1 mg per day and goin to try to get down to @ least .50 mg before I actually quit. I've heard its rough...so I wish you all the luck in the world and PLEASE keep in touch! I would love to hear how you are doing!

Hi Rafe,

I took suboxone for nearly 4 years and ran out one time only on 2mg.  The withdrawal after about 3 days was absolutely horrible and that kept me taking it for another 3 years.  I would seriously recommend that you reconsider jumping from 12 MG, it is going to be pure he*l for about 2 weeks if you jump from that high a dose.  If you still have some medication left, I would seriously recommend you continue to take it and reduce your dose by 4 mg until you get down to just 4.  Then jump to half that and then half of that.  If you can, try and taper down to just crumbs, you will thank yourself in the end for doing so. I too tried to taper down to just 1 mg, which I did, but even the withdrawal at that point was miserable.  I finally ended up doing an 8 day medically assisted detox, which was much easier than just going it alone.  The clonidine will help alot and the trazadone will also help you sleep, but if you jump from 12 mg, you will regret it.  Best of luck.

I do wish you the best and hope you will stick to the plan to stay clean.  Yes, it will prob. be rough,  and it is good that you have something to help with the withdrawls.   I do not know anything much abt. sub except others have got clean from it and it is hard for awhile to deal with.   The good things are that withdrawl will not kill any of us,  that is to say those who don't have med problems.  then it would be good to have a Dr. to help with w.d.     You can read alot about sub on these pages and others.  You are not alone and please post if you need some advice.

Ella
