Suboxone Question
Hey Party people.
First of all - this site helped me with the courage to go to my doctors office and come clean!! I am very very proud of myself for this small step.
Now - she prescribed me a prescription for Suboxone. I have heard that this is very expensive. I talked to her about going to a family help center (which is actually right next door to her office) which they put you on a 10 day program and gradually reduce the dosage. The cost is about $1000 which includes ALL of the office visits, ALL the medication and talking with a therapist.
I am wondering if anyone has ever compared the pricing (not to mention the outcome) when dealing with an actual prescription given from your primary doctor to an actual detox center that will help you through your 10 days and lower the dosage through then.
Any information would be helpful!!

Yeah - i took both of them yesterday an hour apart of each other. Today I just took one about 30 minutes ago and I feel fine. I may just cut the other one in half and take it later on today if needed. I really want to break the habit of taking something in the morning. I would wake up - have coffe, take my shower and while I would be getting ready for work I would take my 2 to 3 pills and finish my make-up. By the time that I would leave for work in the morning it would kick in and I would already need my next dose at like 10am. I am so happy thats over.
I was a little worried about getting used to taking the sub - but I think that in a few days I wont be sore or anything when I wake up and I probably wont be thinking about it :) that would be awesome!! My husband is going to be going to the Dr this week. He can't believe how much I have changed. He wants to give it a shot too, which I would love to see him do. Last week was just a complete mess and I was crying ALL the time. Its like night and day now.
I lost my sex drive when I was taking the norcos....which is BIG for me because I love having sex with my husband. We used to have sex all the time - like the first year or so we had sex everyday. Then it would be like 4 days a week, then down to 3..... The past 8 months or so its been maybe 2 times a week if he's lucky. Most of the time it would be once a week. He told me this morning that he's glad that he has me back :) A little scared because the DR also prescibed me prozac - which you loose your 'libido' on it....I don't want to be on that for any longer than 4 months. I want sex with my husband :)
So, how long did you take the sub for? You obviously tapered off of it too, ya? Was it hard for your mind set to change once you were tapering off of the sub? Are you taking anti-depressants too?

That is great.. you sound good.. By the end of the week it won't be as much of a habit to want to reach for the pills.. i got to the point where i even almost forgot to take my sub..LOL And wow you even had sex!! Don't let my hubby hear you say that.. he will be mad.. I am 90 something days out and I have no sex drive... I need to get my hormones checked..
So you took 16mgs today?? YOu said you took one and then waited and took another.. so you took both of them?? That may be why you were dizzy.. 16mgs is alot..

I am completely surprised at how I feel. I feel normal. I do feel a bit of the drug in me - but its not like I am loaded like I have been. I am seriously amazed....i hate to say this, but what a wonderful thing. I am so grateful. Its like - I feel ashamed for letting myself get to the point where I actually needed help getting off and staying off. I have thought about taking pills all about 3 times today. Only because its been such a habit. I am not obsessing on them like i thought that i would be. Its just awesome. I am going on my first 24 hours of being off of norcos and I had sex!! I would have never been able to do that if i didn't have this help. I am absolutely grateful.
My husband has been asking me how I am feeling and he can see how much happier I am. I have been so f*cking depressed this past week and now I feel new again. Its such a great feeling. I think that this week he will be going to the doctor as well to do this for himself which I would love to see him go through this as well. I want nothing else but for us to be happy and healthy :)

DAY ONE OF SUB....stoked
I got a prescription for the 8 MG pills - two of them at once. I got the script because I came clean to my primary care doctor about my norco/vicodin addiction. I was taking about 6-7 norcos a day for the past year and a half. I have been taking pills for 2 years - but been addicted for the past year and a half.
My doctor told me to taper down by 1/2 a pill every week and I would be completely done in 3 1/2 months. I left the office feeling quiet confused because i just got done telling her that I didn't want to take them anymore. I called her immidately after I left the office and asked the receptionist to have her call me. She called me the next morning at work and I told her how I was feeling because I get them off the street and if I could have tapered, I already would have. I asked for the Sub and she wrote me that, as well as writing me a script for some 750's vic's so I could get through the remainder of the week. She gave me 30 vic's - so I gave 15 to my husband so I wouldn't take them.
I too know that Suboxone is potentially addicting - anything that is an opiate is. I don't plan to be on this for too long since I really want to be clean. I am just sick of everything about it. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE the drug....LOVE IT. I've never taken anything that makes me feel so good and happy all the time. But something that is THAT good can not be GOOD for you. Ya know? I just feel like I am doing so much damage to my body and I am sure that it's not helping out my Ulcerative Colitis either....it makes me think that it is - but I am sure that it's not.
I took my first dose at like 11 this morning and felt better - but still achey and stuff - so I took the other dose and feel....great actually. I am a little woozy and light headed (feel like I just woke up and it's like 2am or something - tired), so tomorrow I will spread them out (one in morning and next one later in the afternoon). I would like to start dropping it down by 1/2 a pill each week. In a way I want to be off of them - but the other side of me wants to stay on them for the full month because I know that I wont be able to take any other narcotic or drink because I could do some serious damage.

my doctor started me on 2 8mg pills a day ... started off 1/2 every 45 min til i felt normal ... at 2 i still felt aweful, thats when he upped me to 3 a day. i've also been hearing how 'addicting' suboxone can be ... i'm almost afraid to go off of them, bcuz i've been given the option to stay on 1 a day for the rest of my life if need be ... also everyone i know that are taking them which is 5 people have started out at 2 or 3 and have been kept on that dose for 2 months then going down a 1/2 dose, again on that for 2 months and so on ... LeMERIDEAN, what did the dr write the script for? qty, days supply, etc ? just wondering ... my appt wz only $275 for the first 3 visits and my ins covers the rx ... then 60$ every month for followup and urine test.

You are certainly NOT alone by any means sweetie... so noon your time will be about 3 my time tommorrow so I will be home shortly after that and will definatly check in here with you when I get home around 430pm est time. By then you should have taken your first quater pill and should be able to see how you feel and if you need more.. if you do that is ok.. some of us need even 8mgs the first day... take it slow and really see how you feel.. Write down the time and how much you took you will want to do this the whole time you are on it..

The wedding will be at 4:30 my time - I'm in CA and I should be home at around 8 ish or so. I will be taking my last one at around 4.
I am going to wait until I absolutely can not take it anymore which should be around 12 on Saturday. That will give me 20 hours of NOT taking any. I should be feeling pretty bad by that time. I will be asking the pharmacist LOTS of questions - I should still have some for you too. Jeez - the look that he gave me yesterday when I dropped it off, made me cry. This is also another reason why I am so happy to get off of them.

Only issue with tommorrow morning is I will be working at 9am til 4pm ish... What time is the wedding?? If its early you may end up needing to take the Sub tonight if its been at least 12 hours and you are feeling WD's.. I will be on and off today so get back to me if you can.. I will also probably be around until midnight or so tonight.. IF for some reason we don't get to talk until tommorrow after I get home.. IF they are 8mg pills start with a quarter of a pill wait an hour if you still feel withdrawls take another quarter.. I doubt they gave you 2mg pills but if they did then take one of those and do the same thing wait an hour to see how you feel... Also IBKleen and Wait2long can assist you if I am not here..

I am going to be starting tomorrow. My best friend is getting married today so i need to be 'normal' for that. I only have one more pill which i will take before the wedding. The goal is to take it once or twice a day. And to taper down to 0.5mgs for the last 2-3 days.. i would plan to stop taking it 2-3 days before you have a few days off... in case you are super tired and lazy feeling... I had about a day's worth of sweats and chills about 3 days after stopping Sub. It wasn't that bad.. I slept fine and didn't have any of the other symptoms at all..

Like I said start with a 2mg "tester" dose after you have waited for moderate withdrawls to set in.. wait and see how you feel.. that may be enough.. if you still feel icky take another 2mgs.. this stuff "builds' up in your system so for day one and two don't worry about tapering.. you want to take enough to keep you from getting sick but not so much that you get dizzy disoriented and speedy.. Sub can make you sweaty just as a heads up... so don't think that its a withdrawl symptom. On day one most people need to take more after about 8-12 hours.. again I would take the 2mgs. On my first day I needed 6mgs total 4 early and 2 more that night and i was only taking a few hydro a day when i went on Sub. On day two do the same thing... Like i said you want it to build up the first two days.. On day 3 if you are feeling no withdrawls and your dose seems fine.. Drop out 1mg. 2 days later drop another 1mg-2mgs...
Well... when do you plan to start?? You may need to take more than one dose the first day or two to figure out what your dose is... How much of what have you been taking?? You will need to wait at least 12 hours to start..

I really have a lot of respect for my doctor...but she prescribed this to me because i wanted it. She tried to tell me that she wanted me to taper off on my own - in 3 months. Which i know that i couldn't do. I went to her crying and telling her that i just don't want to take them anymore and i need help. She prescribed me Sub.

I would personally do the 10 day detox thing... its expensive but better I think. I paid about $350 for my two doc visits and the pills.. i got lucky.. I also took about half of what the doc told me to and got off of it in 10 days..

If I were you i'd wait to talk to FLaddic about this B4 you take anything....She is the best to get advice from, she's given me great advice and is a wonderful person.....She'll be on later i'm sure, she always is from what I know....
I really cant. I have to go to my primary doctor first and from there she can refer me to a different doctor. I am thinking of just taking the sub that she prescribed for me - but it looks like its 16 miligrams and that seems high as other people that I have heard of started off at 4. I don't want to be on this for months...the longest that i want to take it is 2-4 weeks
That's expensive. I just went to a doc that prescribed it for me. ???? Can you shop around?
So was it a DR office that just solely works with people detoxing? I am just curious becuase the prescription that i have looks like the miligram is really high and there are quite a few of them. not that i am an expert at reading prescriptions - but thats what it looks like to me.

Office and it was 1000 dollars but that was just for the initial induction of starting on suboxone, not included was the next visit and definately no the med. i think most insurance plans pay for the suboxone but mine will not so i am righ now getting them 6 at a time at 40$. I have been taking them for 1 week togay and so far today i have only needed 1/2 of one and I feel good. make sure if you get nausea you get some phenergan because that sucks. I am very tired and sluggesh but I would pay thousands of dollars to feel like i do know as oppossed to going through withdrawls alone. Suboxone is worth it. Let me know how you do.
