Suboxone

I used to be on here for a few months. Some of you may remember me. I was addicted to vicodens, due to a torn rotater cuff. I got so addicted to the vics I was actuallly ordering them from over seas and paying hundreds of dollars. I finally went to an addiction psychologist who put me on  suboxone.. I have been taking suboxone for a year now. i know that my doc is leading me on to get his money every moneth.  I was the one who sugested taking less of gthe sub. I want to be free of it but he never mentions taking less. I am glad that I have ahd him to help me but i also know he is stringing me along so ne gets nis hundred a month from me. What should I do? Need advise

The doc keeps you on it for a good reason - as you said - you're addicted. ONCE AN ADDICT, ALWAYS AN ADDICT. Once the blocking effect and withdrawal-management of the sub is out of your system, and you are completely 'clean', your tolerance reverts to zero - and INEVITABLY leads to a relapse onto your previous drug of choice.

I was stealing from everyone and no longer have any friends or family or job thanks to my addiction - and I hold NO ILLUSION that if I was off the suboxone, I'd be back on dope within a week. He is not getting more money by keeping you on the suboxone; maintenance is a very low-profit part of medicine, and in maintenance, the biggest profit is gained by inducting people onto medication and doing a quick taper, which, repeated studies have shown (www.suboxonetalkzone.com - PM me) has less than a ONE PERCENT lifetime success rate at preventing relapse. If you truly want to stay clean, you want to stay on the suboxone. If you want to get high again, cut the BS and quit for three days and go back on the vics.

A Vic addiction is NOTHING. I quit cold turkey off of 120mg vic a day several times, with nothing more than minor discomfort and diarrhea for three or four days. Try kicking a 2000mg a day heroin habit.

You were buying online; you had money - you were not at rock bottom. Keep it that way. That's not desperation. Robbing people, etc. then asking EVERY STRANGER YOU RUN ACROSS if they can score some diesel as you sit homeless with used, worn out, infected works in your pocket is. You likely traded in one addiction for a bigger one (the lowest doses of sub are equal to around 150mg of vicodin all day every day) - but it's a legal one. Opiates themselves ARE NOT HARMFUL to the body or mind in ANY WAY. They are completely safe - and as long as you are on legal maintenance, so are you.

Stay on the subs.

If you absolutely have to quit, for financial reasons, etc., the doctor stands to make more money from you thus: google "The Thomas Recipe" and ask him about it. It involves a week's supply of clonidine (for high blood pressure, heart rate, and sweats), Valium (for anxiety, restless legs, and insomnia) and loperamide (for diarrhea) - with this you will be able to detox with a minimum of discomfort. But, MARK MY WORDS, you WILL be using again within the year.
