Suboxone

I take suboxone. I am close to relapse and my doctor will not help. I am going to a new doc Monday morning. Will my insurance continue to pay for my meds if I switch doctors?

Well, that's terribly unfortunate.  Actually, you need to report the one clinic, there are requirements on how often you need to see the doctor...it has to be at least occasional.  I don't know how they're getting away with that without a doc around.

I hope your appt tomorrow will go well.  Let us know!

I haven't seen my doc in a year. He turned everything over to his nurse. She has been aggressively tapering me down, I've been "sick" for months. When I tell her she says "it's all in your head". I've been on it so long, I know its going to take some time. But, I can't be treated like everyone else. Three years into treatment, he raised my dose for pain management. I stayed on that dose for over a year. All of a sudden he disappears and I only see his nurse. Plus, she talks down to me.I tried a new doctor last Thurs, morn. He was so mean to me. He accused me of doc shopping.after I explained what was going on. He said he wouldn't help me. I left there crying. I just want my life back.As far as a relapse, I'm not looking to get high. I just can't handle the sickness anymore. Im starting a new doc on Mon. as a "new patient"..Thank you all for your response. It good to know there's people out there who care. I dont have much of a support system. I dont want anyone to know what i take. There such a stigma with this medicine. At least thats been my experience, anyway.I did get myself into this mess, but i really am trying. I have a job I can't afford to lose and a little girl who depends on me in every way. I feel Im slipping back into a deep depression. I know once I get back on a proper dose, I can get my stuff together. I just can't function right now.

As far as your insurance goes I guess that it depends on what kind you have but I would think if they were covering it before they will continue to do so. You could always call them and check to see if the new dr will be covered. Please try to stay strong and tough it out until you are able to see your new dr. Go to a meeting or stay on this site. There are so many wonderful people on here who want to support you. Do everything that you can to stay busy and not use. You can do this!!

When you say your "doctor" won't help you, do you mean your Sub doc?  Are you getting your sub through a clinic?  Can you explain how things happened?  Did you go into the clinic when you felt vulnerable?  Did something happen where you failed a tox screen or something?  I just can't understand why the doctor wouldn't be willing to help.

Switching doctors is a good idea if you feel your needs aren't being met.  Your insurance coverage shouldn't change just because you change doctors, unless there is something else going on here, where your doc dropped you for noncompliance or something?  You can always call the insurance comapny and ask them about the situation, to put your mind at ease.

It's a great thing that you are recognizing that you're at risk for relapse and are trying to do something about it!  That's super!  Do you go to NA or AA meetings?  That would be a great place of support to turn to during this rough time.  You could even get a sponsor, someone you could call when you're having rough moments.  Do you have a good support system in family and friends?  Turn to them as well.  Keep reaching out...and remember that using is not an option, it will not fix whatever you've got going on.  It will only make you feel ten times worse.

Keep trying hon!  And keep posting.  Prayers for you!

Not sure about ur insurance. Y do u feel u r close to a relapse? What's going on? If ur taking suboxone its a very bad idea to take anything in top of that. I know several people who have overdosed while they were taking suboxone. While they were taking it they would take their drug of choice and since sub has a blocker n it they wouldn't get their high they would normally get. So they would take more n more to find that high then they would overdose.
