Suboxone

Hey, Everyone!!

I am approaching the time when I will no longer be on the sub.  I started out on 8mg. a day and I am not down to 2.5mg. a day....next week I go down to 1mg. a day and two weeks after that down to .5mg a day for two weeks and then nothing. (I have been on suboxone for 9 months now)  I have heard horror stories of what people have experienced after going off, and to be honest I am terrified...I have heard that the withdrawls off the sub can be worse than off of the percs.!?!   Anyone's experience or advice would be most helpful!!  Thanks!!  :)

For me it was much easier than I ever thought possible. After tapering down to almost nothing, .5, I actually started to forget about suboxone all together as long as I kept busy. And when it came for my last and lowest week of dosage, I did not even want to or feel the need to take sub at all. Although I did, just to ensure a success. I will say after several months without sub I did on occasion have a desire to take something, but that is normal for anyone with an addictive personality. The main thing I noticed was how much better my brain worked without the suboxone in my system. Especially when it came to problem solving. It is possible if you really want it. Good luck and stay busy for best results.       P.S. Exercise is the best thing I can recommend for those days where you just cant seem to get up and go. It might not be easy to put on your walking shoes and start moving when you are in a sluggish mode, but if you can make yourself take that first step, it just gets easier after that.

Hey-
I am on day 7 of NO Sub.  I took hydros[10/325's X 10 day] for 3 yrs.  I tapered off hydros and was clean for 3 months.  I relapsed and took hydros for 4 months and then went to the Dr. with my wife and got on Sub because I could not bare cold turkey.  I was on Sub for 30 days and tapered to .25 and then stopped.  The withdrawls were worse than the hydro.  BUT, as a typical addict I have been taking hydros for the last 3 months and when I ran out of pills I wnet back onto Sub.  This time I started my Sub at 2mg(1/4 pill) and felt no paid from stopping the Hdros.  Then I tapered in 9 days to only a sliver every 2 days and stopped.  I felt no withdrawls until day 3.  It has been much easier.  Taper EVERY OTHER day when you get to a sliver.  Remember, every dose you take it takes 37 hours to be out of your system.  The worst things I feel is stomach pain for last 4 days, VERY tired, still can't sleep.  Good luck.

Yes, Lisa is right.   We won't try to sugar coat it for you -- you need to know the truth and prepare for it.  It will be pretty rough --  but you really have no other choice if you really want to be free of Opiates.  I encourage you to continue to post as you are able and let others know what you experience -- either good or bad.  Knowledge is power and there are many who still lurk on this site for information ---  Sub was very rough on me after I tried to quit ---  I took my last crumb as I was still under the impression that in a few days I would be back to normal.   The w/d's lasted for about two weeks - and then started getting better.  One thing I think is for certain --- I will not be going back to Opiates -- there is just too much pain to endure when getting off.  Hey, hang in there and let us hear from you from time to time.   Make a quit date and stick to it -- buy the Amino Acid Protocol and Thomas Recipe.   All the best.

I don't want to scare you, but you have been on it a while. Usually, with sub, its massive withdrawal affects long term users more. Definitely do what you said and taper, taper, taper...Get down to shavings if you can, and go a couple days without a dose, try to stretch it out as much as you can. You will get through it. Don't be that afraid. Everyone is different..You may be ok if you taper to as little as you can..Good luck..

hi good to see you back.  i dont have any personal experiences on the sub.  i do know that ppl have had severe w/ds coming off.  when you get down to .5 a day for 2 weeks try taking just 1mg every other day for a week then 1 every third day for a week.  most ppl say that helps them...good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
