Suboxone

Well, it has been a while. I used to come to this site everyday and read posts. But I had to turn my internet off at home so I have been away for a while.
I am addicted to vicodin. I was taking 10, 750's, a day for 2 years. I stopped cold turkey back in August. The withdrawal was horrible. I stayed clean for about 4-6 weeks. Then I started back up. Lately I have been taking 3-4 pills a day. I feel like I can not be hayppy without a pill. I hate it. It has taken over my life. I have been seeing my family doctor every other week and going to counseling every other week. But nothing helps. My doctor suggested that I find a doc. that can prescribe me Suboxone. So that is what I did. I have an appt. for Tues. I am very nervous and scared. I don't know what to expect. I feel like I have to convince this doctor to help me. Like he may say that I don't have a problem because I only take a few pills a day. But when I don't have any pills, I spend my whole day crying because I feel so depressed.  I have to work full time and I don't know what Sub. is going to make me feel like. Am I going to be tired all the time? Do I have to go see this doctor everyday for a pill? Is he even going to help me?

I wish you could do a taper off the small daily addiction you have, instead of getting on the Sub. But only you know if you can deal with that. I'm not against Sub...I've been on Sub for almost a year.
But should you decide to do the Sub, please, oh please, do not start out at or go over 3 mgs or more. More than 3 mgs a day for your addiction would be way to much and you would not feel good.  I would think 2 mgs a day for the first week then quickly drop down to 1 mg per day from there.  If your Sub doctor trys to start you on anything more than that, then you've got a doctor that is out for your money and wants you addicted to Sub for a long time so he can make more money.
On 2 mgs of Sub, you should be fine and able to go to work. You should feel normal, like before drugs. Although you may get a minor headache the first few days. Ibuprofen will take care of that.
Good luck and keep us updated.

Hello I know that you are scared everyone one is afarid that the doctor is going to say no to you and then what do you do. Most sub doctors know what you are there for and if you tell them that all you do is 3-4 day then more than likely they start you on a lower dose than ppl that do 20-25 pills a day for you would not need that much just remember that sub are just as hard to come off of as hydro and so on he!! as little as you are on I would think twice before statring sub. Do you have insurance sub treatment and meds are very high. If I can help let me know my sister is on sub and has been 6months now they work for her but right now she is weening herself down was on 24mg day and is now at 16mg day. Hope that helps you

i agree with tyson...7.5s at 3-4 pills a day is only 22.5 - 30 mgs a day...using sub to stop that habit is a bit expreme...i see u have relapsed..do u use any aftercare last time?  being petrified of wd can really get u into worse trouble than u r in already...it is like a flu/and u know as u have done it before...at ur dose the physical part would be over in a few days..the mental part takes a while..but if u used sub until this part passed/the fatigue, depression part/u would be addicted to sub by then and then would have to deal with sub taper and possible wd..at a small dose of hydro like that u r likely to cop a buzz off of the sub..i was an 80-100 mg user depending on my supply and 2 mgs of sub was enuf to give me a jolt..they say this passes as some do develop some sort of tolerence to this drug..i did anyway as the last time i used it it took more sub than before to feel ok..i abused sub tho when i would run out of pills and for me it was not the answer to stopping my habit cos i liked the sub buzz...be safe and think about what u can do different this time around...if u tapered off 1 pill a week u would have very minimal wds..or at that dose u could ct...and of course sub is there..expensive way to stop a small habit tho...no matter how u look at it/one day you have to deal with being clean on ur own..have u addressed any anxiety or depression issues with ur doctor?  aftercare?  exercise to help and the aminos?  good luck and please be safe

Every sub doctor is different, many only accept cash payments while others do take insurance. I have to say that suboxone is a very strong medication to turn to for a 3-4pill/day habit of hydro. I know how hard it is to quit and more importantly to stay clean, but maybe you should try to kick your current habit and see a doc for your depresson issues. After quitting opiates our brains take time to regain their ability to produce sufficient amounts of its own natural chemicals (norepenephrine/dopamine/serotonin), leading to feelings of depression/anxiety. But I promise with time things really do get better, you may always have those cravings but to give in to them is only the easy way out. If you do end up going for the sub method you should really try to get on the lowest dose possible, could be as little as 1-2mgs/daily if not lower. Whatever you end up doing be sure to come back and post your questions, there are so many people here willing to help guide you through the process. I wish you the best of luck, take care.
