I am 16 days after a 20 day subutex detox from methadone. I will not say it was easy, but easier. I feel that one must be mentally ready and have a program in place. Methadone is different than Oxys, but I can say that the sub broke the chain of addiction for me. I still had some PAWS after subs but, my mind remained strong even after the subs where gone. My sick felt physical and the craving had gone away. I could function through the process. I feel a little better every day. Sleep was my biggest issue after sub detox, but has gotten better in the last couple of days. I hope my story helps in some way. Good luck.
Thx IBKleen <3 I had myself so worked up about WDs as most of us do i just couldnt imagine going through it and yes it was hard but really not as bad as i had myself worked up it to be.
I will Fight everyday for My sobriety i have my life back and I worked through it all and I took it one day at a time and didnt worry about the next day that for me was How i got through it! and I stayed Positive I knew it wasnt going to last forever and I made so many friends on here this forum Its my sanctuary I got support from people like you that helped me so much. I will always be grateful <3
Conhall, I am very glad you chose not to go it! Proud of what you are doing and did!
IBKleen is very Good at giving great advice I would also message her and since she has been on it and knows alot about it I would definitely ask her. I just know for me after talking to people and talking o my Doctor i wasnt a good candidate for this and I was just looking for a quick easy fix and as we all know its not easy so i decided to just rip bandage off and Do it CT and I tell you I am so glad I did it this was w/o suboxone. Good Luck to you and keep posting and please find out all your options before you start suboxone
I did short detox with it and I have been clean since. Bear in mind I was already in a recovery program so it was just a final step for me. Still, if your head is not in the right place and you don't do it under proper supervision you will be in trouble. Heck, you can sit here all day and read the horror stories of people trying to get off of the stuff. Just do yourself a favor and don't fall trap to it. It can be useful but you have to be careful. I wish you the best and hope you stick around here and let us know how you are doing.
If you choose sub, only do a short program.
I did call But i chose not to go on Suboxone.
I did alot of research and it just wasnt for me Like IBKLeen has said to you it should be really researched and just for me i really didnt think I wanted to do it. I decided Cold turkey was what I needed to do and at least try that 100% before committing myself to Suboxone because what i read was its is HIGHLY addictive worse Wds than any opiates alone. and you cant just come off it well you can but it needs to be Dr supervised the whole thing from start to finish. there are alot of memebers on here that have taken it and then with drs help tapered off it but The WD was still an issue so for me why not just WD now and get it over with rather than take the suboxone and have to WD anyways and it be a worse WD. I hope that helped you IBKLEEN really gave you great advice and I am sure others will also. Its a hard decision but one thing I can honestly say is do the research ask members that are on it or have been on it ? Good Luck keep posting you will get support on here
So you called, but did you go on suboxone?
Thanks..yes, Ive been at the website, found the office around me thats accepting new pts and my insurance. I've been contemplating this for about a month now. I picked a behavioral (sp) center cuz I thought or am thinking that they will have me do therapy for triggers and such... So, I am 99.9999% sure I am ready for this..I think I just need to hear an honest life story of how Someone got started...
Hi & Welcome,
If you are considering Suboxone please, please do your research and make certain that you speak with members who have actually gone on the program and can share their experiences with you.
If you are taking the Suboxone to alleviate withdrawal you will be in big trouble. Yes, it does do that but it is highly addictive so I suggest you get a plan for while you are on it and a plan for coming off of it. Suboxone was designed for relatively short-term use and is to be used in connection with some form of aftercare such as therapy or meetings or both. Whatever you choose is fine. Take the time to get your life in order and learn life skills and relapse prevention and then make a plan to go off. If yous tay on too long--again, you will be in trouble.
Only a certified physician can prescribe Suboxone. You can find one at their website (suboxone.com).
Best of luck and stick around here and listen to the members. There is a lot of good support here. I wish you the best.
From what I understand from when I called place Dr Office you have to be at least 15-20 hours since last dose of Opiates so you should be in the beginning of Wds and the reason for this is because if you take the subs too soon you will cause yourself your body to go into full blown Immediate Wds and its supposedly Horrendous.
What I would do if I was you is I would call Drs office that deals with administering Suboxone and they will walk you through it all what you need to do what you can expext ect.
But I do know that it is important to be done in doctors care.
Good luck and I Know i didnt answer all questions I am sure others will. But You should call Drs office and just get pen and paper and ask questions and they will answer
