Subutex vrs. Suboxone

551
I've been on both Subutex and and Suboxone for quite a long time.  My former physician used it as pain medicine and perscribed 32 mg daily X4.  It is an amazing pain releiver with little or no side effects.  I now decided to lower and change to subutex 8 mg X 2.  I'm a former Police Officer that was run over by a stolen auto and sustained a fragmented disk in my neck.  I have tried many different pain releivers and i'm at this point.  Does anyone have any suggestions that may be more helpful?  I don't want to become a "pill head" taking multiple oxycontins etc...  Idealy I would like to find a total non narcotic form of relief.  It so happens that subutex is the closest thing I can find.  Any help would be greatly appreciated....551

I'm on suboxone and I does nothing for my pain I had an injury almost 4 weeks ago and I didn't even touch the pain I was on I don't take 32mg maybe thats why lol I'm only on 2mg now from 10 mg. I remember hearing someone say that suboxone and subotex is the same thing I was offer both from my dr. or I have to say either or lol.
It sounds like a lot of pain I really don't know how you Police officer do the kind of work you do, you guys do a great job and need to be remember in everybodys prayers really.
Good Luck and let me know if you find out of the diffrence not that I would want to switch I hope I'm in my way OUT OF THIS MESS.

I just read your profile and I must say you are going through a hell of alot of things yourself.  You seem like a very nice woman who looks 10 years younger than your age.  I just turned 40 myself and it was a eye opener.  In regard to threats involving bodily harm you can go to your local courthouse and apply for a cival, not criminal unless violated "TRO" or temp restraining order.  If you tell a judge you feel unsafe, he'll issue the order immediately.  This is just a tool to use to get a person into the criminal justice system.  Though it's a cival stay away order, it's a criiminal act to violate it.  Police Officers, in general, don't like paperwork and often times misinform people on their options.  Part of the Domestic Violence Act it states psycological abuse as well so just because you may not have evidence of physical abuse you don't need that for the latter.  I hope I'm not over stepping my boundries here by writing about this but I saw it on your profile and thought it may be some good info for you.  There have been a few times I've looked down the barrell of my Glock 9mm service weapon but what has always kept me from not ending it all is how my kids and family would feel and how I'd feel if one of them did that.  I would be very angry with them.  One last thing...  Sometimes the people you live with are the WORST support systems which may be why I'm writing on this as opposed to talking with my other half.  If you are not involved with depression or pain or medication, there is just no understanding because you need to be there or you're useless and become a burden.  You seem much better since you wrote your journal or profile.  Your a pretty, young, and intelligent woman so you have many things to look forward to with or without someone standing next to you other than your children.  They always need their mom.  They can live without Dad for a whiile but not Mom.  Take care and hang in there keeping up the good progress...P

Hi Lisa, I don't have any relationship with the PD anymore due to their corruption.  Other than a disability ck I haven't been back to DC in years.  I live in Florida now and the warmth does my neck good as opposed to long winters up north.  I appreciate the warning regarding xanax.  I won't stop c/t and taper with your suggested timing.  It's hard to put down though becuse it relaxes me like nothing I've ever had.  I don't drink alcohol but it's like having a large drink the way it allows me to relax.  I just can't seem to do anything when I am on them so It's time to make a break.  I tried some Klonopin recently and it seems to work really well making me only use very little and about 8 hours or so between doses with no more than 1mg.  It doesn't give me the same relaxation but it seems to be a good tool to lower the benzo in my system more gradually with it's longer half life.  Thanks for your reply....Patrick

There are alot of moron dr.s out there that just write rx's like theres no tomarrow..Please be very careful comming off xanax. i take that also. You definately don't want to cold turkey that..it can be very dangerous and even deadly. Are you weaning off it right now? Just go really slow with it..You should be able to be off the xanax in a few months if not sooner. i tapered that by taking away about .25 mg every 10-14days depending on how i was feeling but i was also taking @7mg.dy. but don't under-estimate that 2 mg..just be real careful. You are right about pain..Some people need to take stuff but really what damage it seems to cause out weighs the benefits in my opinion..I am glad you want out of your fog..I imagine they offer some sort of counseling through the police force? I don't know how you brave men and women do that. i commend you. This is a great site with alot of caring people..glad your here.  Lisa

I'm surprised at how interactive this site is and with the quick feedback.  Thank you very much for your input.  I'm in constant pain and have limited movement in my neck.  I was a D.C. Officer and was used to working an average of 2-3 homicides a week along with everything else that occurs in the inner city environment so my family understands to a poiint however it's difficult to understand unless your in the business in terms of seeing all of this stuff.  The pain is common with all of us here on this and many other posts.  I've just decided to handle it without destroying my liver.  I've had zero problems lowering my dose on Subutex and I take Klonopin or Xanax 1-2 mg a day for erasing my nightmare of 13 years on the job.  My Doctor is a moron and is ignorant.  He doesn't understand anything except writing excessive percriptions.  I've since changed Docs (a month ago) in the hopes of leaving all Xanax alone.  It's almost become easier to live in a fog than deal with reality but I'm getting better each day.  This is the 1st time I've ever devulged this info to anyone so it's a little awkward.  Thank you again for your responses.  I sincerely appreciate it...551

thankgod you lived!! What a nightmare for you and your family.I imagine things like that will stick with you forever. Are you still in alot of pain? I wish I had an answer for you.Are you suffering any withdrawals now from switching and lowering? I have only taken methadone..which was a complete nightmare in itself (i'll be off that 2 yrs aug 1) and then the rest of the past 6 yrs has been hydro's. What does your dr. say about an eventual recovery? I will defianately keep you in my prayers.

As sadinmichigan said, others may know more than us on this. I know some here have been helped with Neurontin for pain relief. Hang tight here. Others will be on today. One of the ones that was helped with Neurontin is bmc1976.

It's been since 2001.  The kid who did it was 14 and pulled a handgun after but I avoided getting shot, luckily.  He didn't make it out very well without severe injury.  It was a bad day and I remember it every night I close my eyes.  Thanks for your response...551
