Sweaty mess

Ugh.  I've been wanting to post about this for awhile but was hoping it would work itself out in time.  I am 81 days off opiates and tapering benzos for sleep...At half my dose over a period of two months..slow and steady.  I sleep better every day and am super productive, good energy, and really positive.  However, in the past month I have developed major sweating issues.  Like, I have freezing cold hands and feet and they sweat like crazy!  I drip sweat all day long.. even when I'm not anxious.  I have no idea what to do about this.  It is seriously interfering in my life, and making me feel like crap about myself.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I thought it may be w/d but it's been going on so long even at a stabilized dosage in my taper.
I am taking vitamins, supplements, exercising, and eating and sleeping normally.  This is so frustrating.  I have to be on a plane in 6 hours for a weekend with an old friend and I'm so self conscious all the time.  My doctor has no real input...I can't find any information that helps.  Any thoughts?  I am driving myself crazy right now...Which of course only makes things worse.  Any and all help would be much much appreciated..
Lu

Hey hyperhidrosis is awful, disgusting, and embarrassing. Surgery can help, but guess what else works?  Wait for it, wait for it... BOTOX.  Seriously.  How do you think all those A-listers have on those multi-thousand $$$$$$ dresses and not stain them with armpit sweat.  Best kept secret in Hollywood.  Us regular folk can get it too.  Talk to your derm.  Best of luck to you.

Saw this and I had to respond – I too, sweat.  I used neurontin to help me get off the percs and when I stopped taking that as well I was a sweaty mess for about 6 – 8 weeks.  Every now and then I will sweat (much more than I remember sweating when I was clean before using).  What grabbed me was the cold hands part you wrote.  My hands have been FREEZING since stopping everything. To the point where my son screams when I have to change his diaper bc he doesn’t want me touching him.  It’s mostly every day. I was tacking that to the neurontin w/d but if you have the hands too, maybe it’s something with the opiate withdrawal.  Hang in there, I feel for ya.

Thank you both...Wide awake as I have to fly and am nervous of course.  Marie-it's hyperhydrosis and is usually hereditary.  I am hoping this is NOT what it is and is related to getting clean and will get better with time.  It is AWFUL.  Very embarrassing for me especially with work being so high powered right now and socially it is very awkward.  I spend a lot of time worrying about it and am looking into natural support.  Someone told me my adrenal system is probably out of whack from the opiates and I may need adrenal support,  This adrenal over response is what triggered my auto immune illnesses so I am hoping I kind find some holistic alternatives to dealing with it.  I've had times in my life where I've had anxiety and increased sweating, but this is ridiculous!

I am not really sure what is causing this.  Hopefully it will go away with time.  I do know i sweat for quite some time after i cleaned up, then add menopause in there!  Go and enjoy yourself this weekend with your friend.  You are clean!!    sara

Hi Dear LuLu,
Is there a chance that you have the medical condition that causes sweaty palms??? It sounds like you may. I can't remember the name of it.  But my husband had it.  They did a surgery, because it was interfering with his job!!! This was 10 years ago.  It is a well-known condition.  The doctors cut a gland.  I believe it was in the underarm area, but I could be mistaken.  It manifested itself in sweaty palms.  You can see how this could be a major problem in a corporate  job!!! And it made him very self conscious.  The surgery caused no complications what so ever.  he is free of the condition now.  And, I see that my 8 year old daughter has the condition!! She has complained of sweaty palms from time to time.  I don't know if this condition manifests itself more at certain stressful times in one's life.  It makes sense though.  Please let me know if you can't find the name of it--or if no one else post it!!!!! Love ya Girl, Marie
