Tapering off tramadol

I was taking 15 tramadol pills a day (5 pills 3x per day).  I have spent the last month tapering down and am now taking 1/2 a pill 3 x a day.  I am planning on dropping to 1/4 tomorrow for 4 days and then stopping.  Has anyone done it this way.  I have had some restless leg and insomnia but nothing terrible.  When I go from 1/4 to nothing, am I going to have terrible withdrawal?
I am trying not to go to a doctor for suboxone because I don't want a medical record of an addict.  But, I will go and do it if I am going to be sick for a week.  I have a job and 3 kids and can't withdraw with the flu for a week.
What can I expect????

Hi dele, i'm going through the same thing as you right now. I'm down from 10 pills/day to 4 /day. I take all 4 pills in the morning (200 mg) and i'm OK throughout the day until the next morning. next week i'll go down to 3/day and hopefully keep reducing my dose by 1 pill each week. I'm also worried about the w/ds after i finally quit completely.

I guess I am freaked out because I take a dose in the am, at mid day, and at night.  When I finish taking 1/4 pill 3x a day, I will  have to start skipping a dose altogether.  I hope that tapering down like this will alleve the possibility of a total cold turkey meltdown of withdrawal.  I have spent a month tapering down.  But I just found this sight and have been reading about how it is when the tramadol leaves your system.
Will tapering down to 1/4 pill a day help alleviate the complete meltdown???  Or, did I taper down for no reason???

Also, I am seeing a psychiatrist this week.  Will taking an antidepressant help with the withdrawal (mental aspect of it)???

Hi there!
I am tapering down from trams too.  I probably won't be very helpful to use because we're in the same boat (I'm down to 3/4 a pill a day).  From what I can see though, you did a pretty fast taper (why the w/ds).  I did, well, probably too slow a taper, but w/d are minimal.  Ive heard mixed stories- some people have told me we'll still have some w/d, but I have 2 friends who had to taper from trams, and had no w/ds when off.
Good luck!  Let me know how it goes- I want to know what I can expect.  I plan on going down to 1/2 on wednesday and then 1/4 next wednesday then off.

Asivg helped me- maybe you can Pm her?
