does anyone else have problems sleeping?

Well today it has been 2 weeks clean from roxys. Feeling pretty good except I haven't had a good night's sleep in a few days now. I slept for one hour last night all i did was toss and turn all night. I sure miss having a good night's rest. Hopefully this will pass soon because i miss my naps lol...

I'm on 9 weeks clean and can only sleep for 5 hours. The Benadryl seems to help and dr said its ok to take it every night.

If you were usually a good sleeper (before the drugs) you will return to that level.  I, on the other hand, have been a horrible insomniac all my life.   The opiates helped a lot, and now that I'm one week from 10 months clean, the insomnia is back with a vengeance.

I try to just deal with it as best I can.  Melatonin makes me tired, but does NOT put me to sleep.  Neither does Valerian root, any teas, lots of exercise, good sleep "hygeine" , etc.  The only thing that works is me not sleeping for 5 days, turning into a zombie, then collapsing for a day.  Sigh.  Oh well!

You'll be getting back to your usual 40 winks soon...

Hugs,
-Robin

Thanks for all the info and i tried an otc sleep aid let's just say it had me feeling weird and i was all wired up for a few hours. Not taking those for a while I think. Hopefully I'll be able to get a couple hours of sleep tonight if not I'm sure glad it's the weekend and I guess I'll be watching a lot of television....

Only everyone.  It's one of the most common and irritating effects of WDs. But it will slowly get better.  The natural remedies like valerian root and melatonin are probably the best overall.  The OTC drugs can work for some, short term, but they can effect some folks badly.  For prescription meds lunesta is pretty effective and has a low abuse potential.  I tried to abuse it but there wasn't anything there.  Ambien can also be effective but has a much higher abuse potential, IMHO.  Lastly there are the benzos like Xanax.  Very effective but tolerance occurs very rapidly.  Extreme potential for abuse.  Long term abuse of benzos can make opiate addiction look like a walk in the park.  Use benzos at you own risk.  They are so dangerous you almost never see them recommended here.  I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Totally normal!!!!   It took me about 3 months before I started sleeping well again.  I would stay away from OTC sleepaids.  They make RLS 1000 times worse.  Good sleep habits will help.  wake yourself up early.  Only lay downj when you are ready.  exercise and no napping during the day no matter how tired you are.  I remember waking up totally soaked in sweat.  Look at it this way.  expect insomnia.  Your body is trying to relax without drugs.  Its not used to it.  be patient.  sleep will come with time
