Time Table

From when I had "TMJ" and got hooked on ALOT of darvocet for 3yr back in `06. I made it through work had a rough weekend but I did it.    Now after neck surgery and was given alot of heavier drugs ( oxy, hydro, vic) starting in Jan until now. I have been cold turkey since sun p.m. and it is now thurs, and this is WAY WAY worse than the darvocet.
Can someone fill me in on a time frame. I`m miss`n work not eating but doing all the rest of the recovery.
Hopeing to get some advice  thanks

Thank you Brad :) well he can help with meds for sleep although I would stay away from ambien and such. also offer clonidine for the shaky feeling BP also helps with sleep.. You can do a lot of things on your own to help.. walking warm baths with epson salt.. check out the amino acid protocol vitamins and such I have read a lot of peps benefit off these. also they sell a product hylands restful leg works very well for the rls. valerian root works well for anxiety as does walking :) Many Dr.'s do not know a lot about wd from opiates heck many do not realize the trams you were given even come with wd when stopped. so if he offers to put you back on just to taper you say No ok you are past the half way point for the tough physical wd.. then comes the mental. you must miss work for during this time is when work works well for this symptom. but there are many things you can do to occupy your time during this process and 1 of them is posting here :) hugs

Turn that hate and anger around Brad.. you are doing something about it and it is just going to take a lil time. I think the saying goes you just gotta be ok with not being ok for awhile. something like that lol and keep in mind wd brings on a loss of the feel good endorphins the drugs were producing.. the more active you are the quicker you bring them up.. also you were using tramadol and these have a antidepressant effect.. They sure gave you a cocktail.. You really are doing very well. You will get back to where you were.. I'm glad you ate something I bet your brain and body is also..You are very welcome Brad it is my Pleasure to add my support :) warm hugs

p.s. I think your furry babies are adorable !! The lil black one has the sweetest face and I bet she is a love and the black and white one looks very mischievous :)

Hey Brad. it is the stronger doses the regularity and time consumed.. unfortunately for us addicts every-time we go through wd it gets a lil worse and last a lil longer at least this has been my experience. Even those who are just dependent on the meds go through wd when they quit. You are very close to feeling better. Congrats on day 5 !! I bet those Great Danes of yours would love another walk ! :)) Keep your eye on the Goal. and your attitude Positive !! Have you been able to eat yet ? I hope so it will make you feel a bit better.. You are doing very well ! lesa

Nice to hear from you also, It`s cool some of you stick around,it`s like having friends you have`nt heard from in a long time.  You mat remember when I first came here it was for taking 10-15 darvocets at a time. Now with this surgery (3 scripts 80ct oxycodone)
(4-5 scripts hrdro,) (3 scripts vicodin) (1 script tramedal) This started jan 2 w/ first Dr visit.
and ended may 5 w/ 3 discs fused. again sent home w/ oxy, vic. They were finished up sun a.m.. My wife would give me the meds and we both kept track, but ther were times when I "snuck" a few to many.  My question is this w/d is waaaaaaay worse than before. I am assuming cuz of the more powerful drugs. Both times I have detoxed I go cold turkey. I really tried to do this the legit way and be accountable but I still got the w/d`s, Any thoughts? Sorry so long   Brad in NC

Good morning!
How are you feeling today? This is day 5? If you are not feeling better now, you should be soon.

Lesa gave you some good advice, try drinking plenty of fluids in addition to exercise and you should be rounding the corner.

Be prepared for the restless legs. Sneezing is just a bother and the sleep seems to be a little slow in returning. You might get lucky and not have these but they seem to affect some of us.

BUT, soon you will start feeling normal again and it will all be worth it...Hang in there you will be fine....A good mental attitude helps tremendously!

Brad, you should be through the worst of it by now, the amount your were taking although is high to normal standards, to a addicts standards its not that bad. I believe you should be feeling a lot better in a day or two. I would definetly take the advice given above as all of that help dramatically. The warm baths will really help!! stay in as long as you can you will be fine

lesa, Do you know how good it feels to see an "old schooler" on here!!  I knew right when I saw the symbol !!!!!!!!. No offence to the "old schooler" When I got diagnosed in jan and was given hydo`s,then another doc gave tram, then last Dr.gave me 3 scripts of 80 oxycodone. then surery and went home w/ more.
I called surgen he said if not better by tomorrow call....what do you think he can do?

Again Thanks Brad in NC

Hi Brrrrad... Welcome back.. I'm sorry it is under these circumstances also that the surgery was successful.. You are moving into your 4th day. day 3 and 4 are the hardest from my experience and what I have read of others.. thou we are all different. since you are not eating maybe you can pick up some ensure the nutrition will help you to feel better.. also force yourself to go for a walk I know it sounds impossible but the benefits are great. helps with the legs anxiety and help to boost your own endorphins. The physical will be behind you very soon.. You are doing Great and remember a Positive attitude is half the battle..  lesa

It really depends on the dose you were on, how many were you taking per day?
