To: Back Pain People

I have been (sorta) tapering and for the last 3 days have been down to only 3 Norcos a day - so after many pain-free (but miserable otherwise) months I am finally feeling my pain coming back at different times.  I was hoping it wasn't going to be like I remember, like some lucky people say has happened to them.  But it's about the same.  BUT....last night I tried this "thing" called an "inversion board"  that my dad purchased.  (He has spinal stenosis - lower back pain)  This thing looks like a piece of Nautilus equipment but with a long stretcher-like board on top.  You lay on it and secure your ankles and it tips you over and you, like, hang there, like half upside down.  It was at 40 degree angle.  You do this for 10 minutes or so and this action is supposed to stretch your vertebrae just enough to alleviate pressure and I'll be darned if I didn't feel better for a few hours after.  He has this in his living room (it's a bit imposing - my mom hates it :) and I am sure it wasn't cheap but it is well made and I am telling you it provided some relief.  Cortisone didn't work for me and ibuprofen and celebrex do not help but I am trying any alternative stuff.  Chiropracters may have this or have info about it.  I am going to an ortho guy soon but meantime, wanted to pass this on as I found it interesting...

Just adding another really wonderful, albeit expensive, product for back problems. I wear shoes called Z-coils. They come in a variety of styles but all have a large coil for the heel. It's like walking on 2inches of foam, takes all the impact out of your step, reducing back inflammation and stress. They are made esp. for back, leg, and foot problems. Maahvelous!

So what do you call this thing, and how much does it cost?  Luckily cortizone works well for me, but can only get a couple times a year.

thanks for info man!

I just may have to look into getting one of these...both me and hubby have bad backs! I wish i knew someone who had one already though so we could try it and see if it helps us first or not though before spending money on one
