I don't know what kind of surgery youre having but whatever glitdches you run into, they will figure it out,
I was supposes to have brain surgery April 30.. My preop showed a slight cardiac issue. It caused my surgery to be postponed until May 14. In berween
I had several cardiac tests to make sure all was ok. I was nervous but we went forward. I had an open ceaniotomy. I definitelu hadpain' but the second day in
Things are signifificantly beter on Dat 3.
Don't worry. My husband went into A-fib the day he was having brain surgery. They got it under control and still did the surgery.
Ok not what you are having. But at least you will find out why you feel like this. If it is not your heart then great!! But be honest with the cardiologist. He can answer your questions better than us. 7 mos is a long time. I can't imagine that causing how you have been feeling.
Good luck. Hope the surgery gies well. Keep us posted.
That's all the meds I'm taking. I don't take Ambien anymore. I think I need to get off of the amitriptyline though. I've just laid around the last few days sleeping on and off. I don't take the tramadol as much. the past week I've only taken about 2 pills. I don't think they know I was taking both meds, I'll be sure to tell the cardio Dr. Thank you guys. God Bless you
Hi tooter! If there are any abnormal findings like a fast heart rate, they need to get cardiac clearance before they give you anesthesia. They don't want to put you in danger you know. So the cardiologist needs to check you first. If he clears you, you can have the surgery. If not he will treat whatever it is, get you stable, and then they can operate. I know that will be no fun but it is for your own safety. Hopefully you were just nervous at the appointment and he will clear you. Good luck with everything, and God bless.
Hi Tooter......glad you got the pre-op done and also that they are checking you out with a cardiologist first.....it's important before surgery so they know what 's going on with you.
Are the only prescription meds you are on right now...the tramadol and the amitriptyline? No more ambien?
Are the medical people aware that you are taking the ami and the trams? The ami is a tricyclic AD and the trams have an SNRI (serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake) AD in them along with an opioid analgesic.
Some pharmacies caution patients that are taking trams not to take another AD at the same time....I don't know...but it's important that the drs know this.....and a lot of drs don't know a whole lot about tramadol. To my knowledge, tramadol doesn't have any benzo chemistry in it that I've ever heard of.
I'm glad you are getting your heart rate checked.....it may not delay your surgery at all girl. Just wait and see......but make sure they know the meds you have recently been mixing....as it can/may affect tachycardia (rapid heartbeat).
Let us know how you do......ok? We're all rootin for you and I am so hopeful this surgery will bring you some much needed relief.
Blessings to you, Toot~

Hey Tooter-
What's your BP at? I know you're feeling some anxiety about the surgery so the fast pulse could be from that. Also, I don't know how regularly you're taking the Tramadol but it does have a benzo quality and if you were taking it somewhat regularly and then stopped it could also cause a racing pulse. My experience with amptripyline was an awful one- I literally just laid in bed and felt weak and awful the whole two weeks I was on it.
What do the docs say?
