Tramadol Tapering

Is there anyone out there that has ever been up to 20-24 Tramadols a day and quit. Either by tapering or cold turkey? I am trying to taper but not having much luck. It's like I just can't seem to lower the dose. It's either I go get 2 more bottles of 100 pills each and try the 200 to taper or C/T??
My wife does not know so I can't be like sweating up the bed like I always have before. I have never been on this much Tramadol in a day but it's only been about 2 weeks that it's been this high. I think I need to shut it down now. I need to get a job cause all I do is sit here at home bored and look for work on the internet. I occasionally go and do some computer work with a few customers but nothing steady. I know there is no good way to come off of these and I absolutely hate the W/D from these. It was almost so bad last time that I almost could not stand and I was not ever doing this many. I was only at about 12-15 a day then. 3 days then and I felt somewhat better. I sweat like you would not believe when I was sleeping though. I woke up in the night and thought I had pissed all over myself and it was sweat. My wife freaked out. I had to tell her and she was freaking out. I don't want to go through that again. She thinks I have been off of them since then and guy's I'm really scared right now. I'm in a hell only you guy's can relate to. I need to quit these before I kill myself on them. These things are so addicting. It's laughable that my doctor when he first prescribed them 5 years ago to me told me "THESE ARE SAFE AND NOT ADDICTIVE" I wish I could pump a bunch down his throat and tell him that now. I really need you guy's support and advice on how to get off these freaking things. I have the day when my wife is at work so I can W/D then but I have to pick her up at 5pm. Is it possible to not take any during the day and just do it after 5pm and still be tepering or is that going to be too hard on my body? I want to try an avoid having a seizure if at all possible. I hear you man. I don't have a doctor now and no insurance. The last time I had a big problem with these was in 2000. I have been taking these this time for about 10 months on and off though and have not been dosing this high the whole time. I appreciate your kind remarks and I will post often as you said. Thanks Again

Oh my dear!!!! I'm sooooo glad I don't live down near you!  If you told me a quick 30 minute trip to MX would score me 100ct for $28 I'd be dancing in the streets and probably dead by next month.  

I'll tell you what  -- let's change it from "I'll Race You!" to "I'll meet you there".  The first one who crosses the finish line will stay and cheer the other one on to success.  Then we'll go out to lunch together!

When you first started this drug five years ago the drug reps were telling the Md's that they were not addicting and non narcotic, based on this information and the schedule of the drug C-IV drug they assumed that the information was correct especially as the way the FDA had classed the dug as a schedule-IV drug. The drug it self works on the same receptors and can produce euphoria and
addiction when taken in large doses. 20-30, 50mg Ultram is an obscene amount of ultram to take and you run a risk of having a seizure, The use of a full opiate agonist will not read to seizures. Even through the cold turkey phase, If you are unable to detox from the ultram on your own without some sort of taper plan, Then you bess call your MD and get real with him. This is nothing to be ashamed of you have treatable chronic disease of the brain, that needs treatment by an MD just as if you were
suffering from diabetes or even cancer, without the proper treatment you will eventually die from this disease sooner or later, Good luck on your way back reality-------------------------NOAH

I really appreciate it. I do know that you need to start drinking water. Try to drink a few glases a day. The more you can urinate the quicker the drug gets out of your system. Also I drink protein shakes just about everyday. I know this has helped me before with this drug W/D however I've not been successful on not suffering when I go C/T on this. I wish I only had to worry about a doctor. ONe of the hard things for me is I live right at the border of Mexico and I was going to the pharmacies there and buying 100 50mg Tramadol for $28.00. I'm on the 4th bottle of 100. I'm thinking I may need to get 2 more. You know I cant seem to taper either at all. I regret it when I'm in the midst of the W/D though. Yes please let me know how your doing and I will keep you informed. I have not started yet though so probably you will win. I know in probably 5 days you will feel pretty good. 3rd day is the worst.

Hello from a kindred spirit.  I can not offer you any sage advice of how to successfully kick this little monster, but can offer you my support.  Your post is just a hour or so past my own post asking for assistance for the very same problem.

I can offer you my moral support and a promise to share any and all information/suggestions that I receive.  I've asked for info on going cold turkey since I can not do the taper - I give in to the siren song of those bottles and don't stay on point when it comes to the taper.  

I think your doctor and my doctor went to the same med school with that line about safe and not addictive.  Yeah, right.  But don't go back to that same doc with the problem of addiction when it rears its ugly head.
