Tramadol

I am on day 3 of comin off Tramadol.  I have been reading the posts on this website and they are very helpful and encouraging.  Does anyone have any advice?  I am crying all the time.  Chills, sweating, extreme discumfort in legs.  I have been on Tramadol for over a year.  The most I took was 300 mg a day.  I tapered down to 100 for a week, then 50 for a couple days.

What a relief.  I am feeling a little better even tonight.  Went for a walk in the freezing cold and that felt good.  My husband has been rubbing my legs and loving me all he can.  I am hoping tomorrow will be even better.

I will write back tomorrow.  Thank you so much for your support

Your on day 3 without ANY pills!  Thats awesome!  DON'T take anymore!  If you've gone 3 days without pills, you will feel better by tuesday, I promise.  For me, when I quit cold turkey before, I took my last pills on Sunday (and I was taking about 9 a day too), felt lousy monday, horrible on tuesday and wednesday.  I remember waking up from a nap on thursday and realizing OMG, I feel better!  I went back to work and school friday and was fine (until I screwed up again and took more pills).
Just never touch ultram again.  It's super addictive.  I've tried to take just one or 2 for pain when needed, and immediately would end up back in the same rut over and over.  Be good to yourself!  Your at the worst day of the wds and it will only get better!  Write back tomorrow and let me know how you feel.

Oh, don't worry!  I felt a lot better yesterday (like, I could get out of bed and run errands and stuff).  Now whats bugging me is more the mental/emotional stuff.  But that takes time, maybe counseling, and  a lot of support.  You should feel physically better within 5-7 days when you stop the tramadol.  How long have you been at 50mg?   If you have a dr to talk to, I would ask them if you can just stop (without a fear of seizures).  Once you stop, yes, you will feel lousy.  For me, the first time I quit (it was cold turkery), I stopped on a monday and felt like a was a person again by thursday.  Check with a doctor about when you can stop, because tapering might just be prolonging your suffering.  But that's just my opinion. Feel better!

Thank you.  It is hard to remember a happy time.  My little sister moved home 3 years ago with her baby.  We soon found out that she was an alcoholic.  We went thru a year and a half of hell.  She ultimatley lost custody of her baby, and then lost her life.  She was 10 years younger than me.  She was like my daughter and best friend.  I have been taking the Tramadol since a little before her death.  I do have loving husband and wonderful children and I am trying to focus on putting our family back to normal and happy.
Your compassion means so much.

I can relate...I'm day 5 off the tramadol.  Still feeling antsy and kinda gross, but most of the really bad physical stuff is done with.  Things that helped me get through the worst days were: Tylenol PM for sleep at night,  drinking lots and lots of liquid (all the sweating you do gets you dehydrated, you need to constantly drink to feel better....for me OJ does the trick).  For the leg cramps (which for me have been the WORST part), I took hot baths at first, the lots of warm showers whenever I didn't feel good.  Can you get an electric blanket or hot water bottle?  Putting that on achy legs will make you feel better.   I also ate alot of motrin for aches and pains.

I'm also crying all the time!  I feel like I'm going crazy.  Whenever I freak out, my husband keeps reminding me that this is NOT me.....this is the pills.  If you can try to seperate yourself from the actions of the pills you might feel better.  Think about a time before you started taking pills when you were really happy...then remind yourself, thats where you're heading!  Soon you'll be back to normal!

Good luck!  It sounds like your doing great!  Keep posting and maybe we can keep complaining and encouraging eachother!

Send a PM to avisg. Let her know your situation. Do this right now. Tramadol is best coming off in a taper due to seizures. I am not sure what you should do being 3 days off. Avis will know. Oh, PM= private message and avisg is in my friends if you can't find her.

I don't know much about Tramadol, but from what I have read, the worst of your physical withdrawal should be over in a couple of days.  Try hot baths or showers for the leg discomfort and chills. You can do it!!  You have come this far!!
