Day 15 no vicodin gotta get my teeth pulled!

So last week my teeth were killing me i went to see a dentist and they took x-rays and told me i had to get all four of my wisdom teeth out. Im soo scared to go because i know there going to give me pain pills for it and i dont want to have to start all over. I know if i have them i will not take them for pain i will take them to get high like i always have. I guess i can ask for no pills but then im going to be miserable. My one tooth is still bothering me it feels like its moving all my other teeth. Any suggestions?

I had to have oral surgery right after I detoxed a previous time. I told them to write NO OPIATES on my file when I called to make the appointment. If I would have waited till I went in I know I would have taken the script. He gave me a very strong steroid which I didnt even take. I used ice and Ibuprofin. The pain was not as bad as going through wds again. Lot's of luck. Corey

My sister just got all 4 of her wisdom teeth pulled a couple of months ago...Dentist didn't even offer her vic's. He just gave her 800 mg. ibuprofen and told her to ice her jaw. I was still in my active addiction at the time and I was more pissed off then her ( she doesn't take anything at all) I was hoping I'd get em because I knew she wouldn't take them...SICK i know. But she did fine with what they gave her.  I mean it was no walk in the park but she said after the first 48 hours she was fine. I think alot of dentists are steering away from narcotics for extractions anymore. But be careful if yours does offer them. Just tell them you would like to try something non-narcotic first. Good luck you will be fine :)

Tell them that you would prefer medication that is not opiate-based. Ask them for plenty of Motrin 800's and ask them to load your mouth with a numbing agent... I had all of my wisdom teeth pulled a long time ago and was given a hefty prescription of Vicodin... This was back before I had such a love for those little f***ers... And that script sat in my medicine cabinet for MONTHS and then I remember throwing it away one day... I can't imagine a script lasting me more than a few days here lately... Be honest with them before they do the procedure. Tell them that you are not in a position to take opiate-based pain medication.

Ice packs. Motrin. Misery... Yes. Plenty... But you know... It can't be any worse than what you have already gone through... At least not from what I recall of having mine pulled. I took the Motrin. The Vicodin sat in the medicine cabinet. I can't even fathom that... Wow. Two months ago, I'd pop a Vic for a hangnail... Lol.

And trust me... You DON'T want to be right back here... I'm here. You don't want to repeat all of those days...

Ask for a script for prescription strength ibuprofen and maybe a script for Lidocaine Gel which you can rub on your gums/tooth to numb it.  I had to have a root canal and 3 wisdom teeth pulled when I was on sub and told dentist straight up I did NOT want any pain meds, gave him the whole story, told him I was on sub-he still tried to push Tylenol 3 on me, but we agreed on the ibuprofen and lidocaine.. for what its worth the lidocaine really does numb the pain, but with all things associated with dental work, you will probably be sore for a few days..
