Trying to get off valium slowly and suboxone

I have chronic panic disorder, depression and chronic pain and really need support in tapering off valium and suboxone they are prescribed legally but I have been on valium since 1997 and opiates and suboxone for pain management since 2000.  I lately have gotten really bad with my anxiety and have an appt with a psychiatrist and usually take all meds as directed but lately I have been really leaning on valium more because of chronic panic and fear.  I live alone and right now currently pretty much due to another health condition stay at home a lot.  I am a member of n.a. and believe in God and the 12 steps.  My question is what is the best anti depressant for someone who is "panic" prone because I had to stop Wellbutrin because it not only caused insomnia which I deal with too but it makes me more "edgy".  A PILL is not the answer for our problems but I am really tired of the merry go round.  I need an anti depressant that I can take at night (trazadone tried no thank you) that will help with depression and anxiety during the day so I can take valium as needed.  It's gotten really bad and cannot get into a specialist till the end of June. So I want to be prepared.  I'm not a quitter and not ashamed of anything.  I used to be a really out going social butterfly type and now most days I have to literally lean on God and force myself out of bed and I won't lie and say some days I don't get up except to do the household chores and take care of my cat and responsibilities.  But even every day tasks like shopping are becoming irritating.

Long term use of a benzo can actually make the anxiety worse.
As can long term opiate use can cause more pain (hyperalgesia).
Have you asked your doctors for a taper plan?

You might find it beneficial to also check out the anxiety forum. Valium would certainly need a taper because of your length of use, but I suppose I am confused as to why you would even be coming off it. Has a doctor directed you to?
