Started smoking again. It keeps my craving to a minimum. Anyone think this was a bad idea?? It's helping. A lot! Very proud of myself tho. Day 7 clean!!! No more withdrawals just exhaustion. Thank u everyone for your encouragement and help! Love to you all!

Smoking for me is always easy to quit. I've quit 2 times before. And never really have issues with it which is who I think a turned to it. I know I know I know it's another addiction. But I am an addict and in my eyes if it stops the cravings for something I'm willing to brake a bone for then smoke away cause I would never do anything like that for a cig. They aren't that great to me lol. I'm an oppiate girl. Plain and simple. Thank u all for the concerns. I'll quit this also. I'm kinda grossed out by the smell anyways. And by the way it's only a once a day thing. I only smoke after baby is on bed for the night. I'd NEVER do it while she's awake and then I have to be around her. That's one thing I couldn't do. Second hand smoke even on clothing is horrible for babies. So I think 1 cig a day will be easy to say goodbye to(:

Lynn - I think it is great that you aren't using opiates but I am worried about the smoking.  Have you quit before in the past?    I have a friend on this forum who quit vicodin and then quit smoking.  I will ask him if he has any thoughts on taking up smoking.  Only you know if you have the will power to stop smoking in the near future.

i smoked for 36 years . . . i tried to quit in my second rehab, mostly due to the idea that the beast is ADDICTION itself, and smoking is just another way to feed the beast and thereby keep it living within me.

however, the cravings that i got from wanting a cigarette were just too damn close to the other.  i honestly and completely felt and thought that trying to quit was a threat to my recovery.  So, i quit trying to quit and i was fine with that . . . because nothing come in front of recovery.

i finally did quite when i was in my fifth year of recovery.  i was ready to quit and it was my time to quit, but it really sucked . . . the only things that made me feel better for a while was a) knowing that it was supposed to suck and b) the certainty that it would get better and better as my brain chemistry returned to "normal."

It's just a cross addiction as some have mentioned.   It's like taking a benzo to wean off a sleeping pill.     Not much gets accomplished.

Welllllllllllllll, i guess if it is helping than that is all that counts.  I am not going to tell you the bad things about smoking as we all know them and i am a smoker myself!  Hopefully you will start to work on the baggage that you have.  That will help also with the cravings.

Congrats on 7 days!!!  You are doing great so keep it going.  Hold that clean time sacred lynn, you are worth it and deserve to finally do some healthy living~~sara
