Ultram withdrawl, life on life terms etc..............

just need some help, I am scared or overwhelmed with life right now, my daughter 19 has just been diagonsed with a mass on her spine, has to have surgery and I am very depressed.  I am coming off ultram at the same time, I am down to 5 a day making the change every 3 days, I have constant back problems and I have had to be on these meds off and on for a couple of years.  Ruptured disc, surgery etc......I am just looking for some support and understanding, I feel like a failure right now, like I am weak and not supermom.  I wonder If I could just stop taking them and would I be fine, in the past it has been uncomfortable but I never have weaned myself always cold turkey.  Anyway, just need ya'll's prayers, I'm really sad right now and life feels impossible.....Thanks for listening...........

Sorry it took me while to see these posts...cuz its donw on the screen.   If you are new post up high even if another topic.  Its ok.. so we see it.  Someone e-maile d me about yurs.  \
I know a littel about ultram.  Am now in detox from it.  Day 6.  It is a synthetic narcotic similar to stadol.  They did not think stadol was addictive at first either.  I was addicted to stadol for 10 years.  Ultram can give yu euphoria and a general good feeling of energy.  Noy a real high though as other narcotics unless u take a bunch!  It has some nasty withdrawal as i have experienced and many on here have remarked.
If taken in moderation it can be helpful pain med but it is very addictive.
Hope this helps...

I have been on Lorocet10 for a long time ...my addiction to it is strong. Today my doctor gave me a prescription for Ultram...after reading these messages I am worried..I dont need another addiction that is for sure. I was hoping that it wasnt addictive, also I take Prozac...sounds like maybe I shouldnt take the Ultram if I am on Prozac (weekly). I dont know I would like some feedback on it..my email address is ***@****

I'm currently taking ultram.... unfortunately for nothing more than the "fun & fuzzy day"  i get from it . I have been on and off it for ....jeez... I really dont even know... for awhile. What happens to me is i usually get a hold of say.. 100 -200 pills.. then I'll run out...... and it maybe weeks to a few months before i get more. During my down times, I have experienced sleeping issues. First let me say..... that when i DO have them, I usually take 3 pills every other day , it helps from building a high tolerance, needing more and keeps the euphoria in check..... so I have noticed that on the days i didnt take it.... I was weak and tired yet at night I couldnt fall asleep...that became the big problem for me... (insert NyQuil here) ..... especially the first  week after i ran out. But then things seemed normal. I really am no expert on this but maybe it might help.  Unfortunately.... my Ultram abuse has been a pleasant one. However.... what scares me is Ultram is NOT a narcotic / opiate and they (DR's) so I've read,  have no idea how it even works??? Kid you not. So honestly... given everyone is built slightly different- who really knows what to expect.

I have been on Ultram (Tramadol) for about 2 years now. I am taking it for irritable bowel syndrome (of all things) and am at a dose of 200mg/day (give or take a 50mg pill. I just found out that it is addictive, despite the literature that claims otherwise. What kind of withdrawal symptomes are common? I stopped taking it cold-turkey two days ago, but ended up with pretty nasty stomach pain, but im not sure if thats from my IBS. The DR. told me to take more Ultram, so I did, and the pain relinquished. However, I have noticed that during the past year or so I have become increasingly moody, from euphoria to depressed (even almost suicidal), to rage. Is this common with this drug? Has anyone else had these problems? I also became increasingly sleepy, and my memory has suffered...ring any bells?   I never had a problem with addiction, I thank God for guiding me there, and I'm a little worried.

I have taken Ultram for the most part the past 3 years or maybe longer. I work my way up & back down but not off.  Has anyone got advice to give up?  Suggestions for vitamins etc to alleviate withdrawal.  I constantly justify what I am doing-I am imobile & can barely function when dose gets low. I need help

Can anyone give me a little more information on the difference between Ultram and Ultracet? I am just finishing day #7 of cold turkey w/d from MS Contin (morphine). I am doing OK but am taking Darvocet to help with the aches and leg cramps. I only have a couple of days worth of Darvocet left. I do have a supply of Ultracets that were given to my wife for headaches. They are actually sample packages. Are they similar to Darvocet? I guess I really want to know is when I am out of Darvocet is it OK to take Ultracet? I also take a very small amount of Paxil every morning. I only take one half of a 10mg pill so I am not sure if the Paxil even has any effect on me. I know that later in the week I will need something for the body aches and was hoping to find out more about the Ultracet. Thanks for any information. God Bless!

Finally! A few ultram people ... now I don't feel so alone. I was able to pull back 25 mil, but for how long? It's going to take determination and medical intervention for me. Sorry, but vicodin was easier. At least you knew what to expect and when it would end. I have a question about back pain from ultram withdrawal. Is it the upper back or the spine area(lower back) that is affected?

getting off the ultram all together  will leave
you in pain with the back, if you can get down
to 3 or 4 a day , for your back pain , and then when things settle down, talk to your doctor about something for the back pain.
i don't know your situation but , i know taken a lot of this type of medacation depletes our systems of a lot of the nutreints
we need. with out them our pain is always increaced.
a strong multi vitamine, some L-tyrosine , b-6  helps
a lot with feeling better and even helps with the pain, and the stress that adds to pain.
of course when we get of a med like ultram, we start having problems sleeping and this really add's to the stress and pain.

take slow , and take light, thing will work out .
keep reading the post here and ask questions.
knowing what the problem is is half the solution.

peace !!!!!!!!!!!!!! hippy//// michael

It has been my experience that all other major stressors in your life must be either put off or in a resolved state before one can think of detoxing. This is how it worked for me anyway.

Can you maintain the current dose while you go through this trying time, and pick it up when your daughter is healed? If so, this would be the way to go.

As an example, I knew I would have the better part of a month to detox during December, and so I waited until then (actually started Thanksgiving timeframe) to do me detox.

No work, lots of time, and the absence of the everyday stressors helped me succeed (so far, anyway).

God's Grace to you and we will be praying for you and your daughter...

I agree 100% with Sharon. History shows us that most of the time, when one tries to detox with so much else going on in their lives, they tend to relapse & relapse hard. You have every right to feel sad for your daughters condition but you CANNOT beat yourself down for not being "SUPERMOM." We are all human & humans make mistakes, have problems & have demons of one sort or another to face daily. You have already shown that you're a loving, caring & concerned mom. You're daughter has a lot more going for her than a lot of people in this world. Be proud of THIS. If you need to stay on the meds to help you through this ordeal, then that's what you have to do. Just be honest with yourself during this time.

I'll be praying for you & your daughters well-being & hope things turn out fine.

FINISHED!!

Good morning...

It may be easier for you if you take it slow. With all of these other issues in your life going on you don't want to try and come off too fast and be miserable on top of everything else!! Try to detox at a slow pace and you will probably do fine.  It always helps to talk with other people that have been there, so this forum can help.  Everyone here is great and will give their opinions and experiences and advise. Family and friends support is the best of course!!  We will try to help anyway we can.
