Unreal, you have to hear this!

Here I am, day 5 clean, feeling good!  The phone rings, my buddy says " I got my IR-15's this morning if you want them".  I tell him I don't have the money and he says "you can pay me later just come get them cause I don't know anyone else who will buy then"!   So I say dude I'm 5 days clean and don't want them any more so you're going to have to look elsewhere!  He said "what if I lower the price?". I said nk thanks and hung up on him!  I feel super great now!  On top of the world!

Great job on telling the person NO and deleting them from your phone.  Now will be the time you will find out who your real friends are.  Stick with the ones who support you in your recovery~~~~~~~sara

Very interesting and definitely a great move.  It is amazing how people still try and push you over the edge when you are doing the right thing.   I think it is small steps like these that allow you to develop the strength and resolve to make a lasting change.

The ego is a powerful tool and when you can clearly see someone trying to use and abuse you, it should kick in and make you even stronger in protecting yourself against people who will try and exploit your addiction.'

Stay strong

Great move Jaybird,

Each small step you you take not only increases your chances to stay clean, it is also affirmation to yourself that you are doing everything in your power to stay clean, that you are committed.

Again, very happy for you,

Jaybird, Good for you! Keep it up. Changing your "friends" is a huge step and it is in the right direction.

Jayla, you would get a lot more responses if you started your own thread. Members here are happy to help you but may over look your post here because they are talking with Jaybird. I would hate to see you not getting the support you also need.

Congrats on the 5 days!!!

You are to be commended for having the strength to say no today.  It's very tough to do especially when on day 5.

BUT......and it's a BIG BUT......your reslovle cannot last forever if this "buddy" keeps calling.  I have blown many clean days more than once after receiving such calls.  You need to drop this guy from the friend list pronto or he needs to truly understand what you are dealing with.

I know it's hard to run from friends but it's necessary to stay clean.  Your life is more important than your connections.

I hope you can learn from my mistakes, you ARE doing amazing and I hope that you stay clean!!!

Congratulations! I wish that my husband had that conviction! His stupid dealers call and text him all the time offering free heroin and a new needle. Just cause they know all it takes is that one time, and then they keep you coming back...I've tried changing his number, but I guess you have to want to quit before you do that..because all he did was go get high and give his new number to those ********. So now that he's trying to quit again, he's still getting texts and calls. It just makes it that much harder. So keep being as strong as you are proving to yourself you are. Tell them all to eff' off. I wish I could do that to the people who won't leave him alone....I'd probably get shot in the process though, or get him shot because then they would think he was snitching or something...sorry I diggress lol...Keep it up. You're doing so well and I'm very proud of you

hahaha!! Jay, I actually got a call from a friend of mine on Tue. Same exact scenario but I politely said dont call me for that anymore because I am done with them. He knows I have quit many times and understands. He said that is awesome and will make sure to never give me one. Immediately after we got off the phone I threw away anything that I used for my habit. It did feel great. I also had the demon on my shoulder saying remember how much you used to look forward to a pill and new video game release? Or how great the mornings are. The next few months are big months for games but I would rather go out, fish or golf. I actually wont even attempt to play games because I know it will be a huge trigger.
