Taking all the positive...

Returning to teaching tomorrow. Pain has flared up sooo bad as a result, I'm "FEELING" like I will have to use oxy to make it through the year.

I'm taking all your positive thought/energy and prayers from you prayer warriors. I almost quit today, but then basically "unquit." I have a smaller second source of income, but if I quit teaching I toss like 65% of our income and have to pray that first income (small "business") increases. Just not sure where God is leading...

A good friend (Gnarly) said if the teaching job is going to cause me to use, find another job, and I'm posting it cause I whole-heartedly agree. It's just that I'm in a contract and it's not as easy as I thought to get out.

I'm hurting, but no pills in the house and still counting clean days.

God bless,

David

Yeah - I'm saying no to the Cymbalta. Treadmill, Epsom, Massage, have been in the mix. Pricey though. Haven't been back to Accupuncture yet, and no Chiro yet.

Definitely a correlation between the stress and pain, so also working on reducing the stress....

hey david,
the LORD is with you. wow, 23 days. awesome, you are winning the battle. the victory is yours when the battle is the LORD'S hosanna, hosanna.no enemy can stand when HIS praise goes forth.

wondering if there are really any meds that dont have addictive issues or withdrawals issues. just a few things i copied and pasted about cymbalta. none of it sounds good.

•tell your doctor if you drink or have ever drunk large amounts of alcohol or if you use or have ever used street drugs or have ever overused prescription medications

Discontinuation syndromeFurther information: SSRI discontinuation syndrome
During marketing of other SSRIs and SNRIs, there have been spontaneous reports of adverse events occurring upon discontinuation of these drugs, particularly when abrupt, including the following: dysphoric mood, irritability, agitation, dizziness, sensory disturbances (e.g., paresthesias such as electric shock sensations), anxiety, confusion, headache, lethargy, emotional lability, insomia, hypomania, tinnitus, and seizures. Although these events are generally self-limiting, some have been reported to be severe. The withdrawal syndrome from duloxetine resembles the SSRI discontinuation syndrome

try to manage with the massages, exercise, otc, the epsom salt baths,
did you try chiropractor or acupuncture?
you started counseling right?
ssending hugs and prayers

Didn't read good things about Cymbalta. Pain doc looked in the face to say it had no WD effects, but I am reading them on here...

Anyway, Day 23 tomorrow. Hanging in there.

Gnarly, you are in my thoughts and prayers bro. I know you give so much. I pray God will replenish you.

Take care all.

Oh, still would like any info on Cymbalta. Didn't fill the script. Just don't want to be addicted to something else. If it's really for pain, I might try it.

Thank you guys. I made it through the day, but I compare it to like a Day 2 of withdrawals or something. Minutes inches by. I got so light headed in one staff meeting I literally came as close to fainting as I ever have come. BUT, it did cause me to pray more.

I got my second ever massage at 5ish pm and although it was only 30 min, it felt good. I tried an Epsom salt bath for the first time too. I'll keep going. I literally have an unprepared classroom and no lesson plans for students coming on Monday. But I have tomorrow, and I'm just going to do what I can.

I know I sound unthankful or joyless, but I'm not. I'm just tired :) I did get to spend some time with my kids tonight, and there were other blessings throughout the day.

I liked a line from Captain America when he was skinny and getting beat up - he looks at the guy and says "I can do this all day." Gonna try that approach (in God's power) tomorrow.

James 1:2-6

Love,

David

David.
You are doing great I am so proud of you. Life is stressful life is tough it can be very depressing at times and literally stink.we have to live life with all the thorns and weeds. You have to find the joy in each day.the joy of the LORD is our strength.a hug from your children a rainbow a flower blooming the sunshine a kiss from your wife. There is joy in life. We have to live and take it as it comes .stress and all. It is how we deal with it that counts. Ask yourself are you happier on the pills in a fog and in bondage or free of the addiction and bondage with a little a stress and pain. Live each day as if it is your last. We don't have a guarantee of tomorrow today is all we have embrace it and enjoy it . Is life a rose brush with thorns or a thorn bush with roses?  Is the cup half full or half empty? It all comes down to our perspective on things. Keep looking up . Keep the faith
Sending hugs and prayers

No cymbalta is not addictive - it's an anti-depressant but is now being used to treat pain associated with fibromyalgia and some other conditions.

My Dr. had me on that too for a while - and I stopped taking it because the pharmacy warned me that taking an anti-depressant while taking tramadol could result in serotonin syndrome.  Course, I really wasn't that concerned as long as I could taking the tramadol!  Goes to show you what kind of idiot the drugs made me.....

And I am SO freaking proud of you for hanging in there David.  You're going to be okay - and I agree with the other posters - don't make any big decisions for a while.  Believe me, in a few months your head will be in a better place and you'll be able to think clearly and rationally about the things that you want in your life - and more importantly, the things that you DON'T want in your life.  You'll see.

:)

How long have you been off the pills ? Its not a good idea too make any life altering decisions when u first get off the pills your emotions and mind is all over the place . I can remember thinking there would be no way I could make it threw a weekend without using I had not done it in years .I did it then I made it threw another and another .I could do things I also considered leaving hubby when I first got clean so I was told by a very good friends a someone who was a member here no life altering decisions until I had been clean over 3 months . I really glad I waited . so give yourself sometime don't make any rash decisions
