Update on sister/neice

To all my precious friends here let me update you on my long, long night.Got to S. Services and my sis and her husband were there.  She was hysterical - not in a violent way but in a "dear God, what have I done" way.  They were actually allowed to talk to CPS, and I do have custody for now of teh baby and the 3 teenage boys (2 of these boys are his from a prior marriage and have MD.)  I did not carry in the drugs, but she admitted everything.  She said it started with coke months ago and lately had been using meth and some coke.  She also admitted to using pills whenever she could get them, and fessed up about the debt.  Her husband truly had no clue.  They both agreed with the worker that I should take the children, so that was good,.  She begged us to help her find help.  Could this be her bottom??  My 82 year old dad was there, and I think her watching his tearful reaction on top of mine and the kids caught her off guard.  I told her I would love and keep those children until she gets better, but she will not get them back a minute sooner than that.  I told her I love her too, but not enough to let her destroy her beautiful family.  Her husband has taken the rest of the week off - they say they are going to look into long term treatment facility for her.  Also I told him I think he and the kids need help as well, especially the boys.  He agreed but wants to get her settled first.  They are pretty well off, and have insurance, so hopefully this is all doable.  I asked him when she is situated in a treatment center I want to go thru that house.  I want to find every suspect item and get rid of it.  I don't want to get my hope up, but is it possible this can turn around.  I slept with my neice last night and we cuddled.  This morninig she told me she loved me but wished I knew more about Dora?   Who the heck is Dora???

Also, I saw a post from someone maybe insinuating this is made up?  Thanks for the vote of confidene but my imagination isn't that good.  Also, this hasn't been "so fast" - I have been posting on this since October 27.   I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.  Please continue to pray for me, and let me know your thoughts.  Love to you all!!

well, this has worked out better than a lot of us thought. i hope she is serious about this help cause she really does need it. coke and meth are bad drugs and there is no way in hel l she can beat this alone. great job on taking care of this, definately a step in the right direction, now it's up to her. glad to hear the children are with you. your sister is going to get better.

Thanks so much!  I don't know what the h--- is wrong with me, but everytime I read these kind words I get so freakin choked up and teary.  maybe it is just a relief to share it and to hope that maybe maybe it can have a decent outcome???  Bless you!!  You will never know how much your words mean to me.

oh need help take that with a grain of salt.  some ppl can be rude.  girl i am here to help you.  i have through my daughters meth habit....i know it is not made up.   it could have been worse.  my daughter would go off for weeks and i would not hear from here.  forget about that.

i am so glad she is willing to get halp.  my daughter went to a place called cenikor.  google it. it is a tough rehab and last 2 years.  she is doing great. has since had a baby and is in nursing school.  ppl do turn around.  it is possible.  i truly believe it was prayer and love that got her through.  i am praying for you and i asked my dad yesterday to pray for you guys.  ( i think i told you he is a preacher)

WOW, I'm actually surprised that she was openly admitting everything!  That's great news...I think.  Especially with social services involved...well, you are handling things very well.  This was a very disturbing story, with innocent children involved and at risk, it always is....I hope this is her bottom...take care Auntie-you are a God sent!!!  Keep us updated!!! We're here for you always....

I just joined yesterday and was worried about my problem but after coming in this morning it just goes to show,"There is always someone worse off than yourself" and honey, you are in my prayers. I can't even imagine what this must be like for you. I bet that like you said this may be her rock bottom so there's no way to go now but UP!! That would be WONDERFUL. (smile)
By the way, Dora is a cartoon on I believe Nickelodeon that little children (especially little girls) LOVE. She talks in English & then repeats in Spanish so it is very educational for them. I believe she has a boy cousin (?) named Domingo and she has a monkey I believe his name is boots and they go on lots of adventures.

I am so sorry that you are going thru all this.  I am proud of you for stepping up to the plate and going the extra mile for your niece and nephews.  I will be praying for you and your sis and family.  Dora is called Dora the explorer.  And she is on nick jr. Little girls do love her. and as maggil said she speakes in english and spanish.

WOW!!  so glad to hear everything went well.....I am glad she fessed up, and yes maybe this is her bottom...But be prepared that it may not...As long as those kids are safe...
You are one heck of a sister and person....I hope she gets the help she needs..

Dora is very educational, and what everyone else said is true about the show. My kids loved her when they were younger (even my son). There is also Blue's Clues which is educational and many others. I have you in my prayers. Hope it all works out for you.

It seems that things are working themselves out as it is meant to be.  We have had you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.  Continue what you are doing, you are a saint,  Selfless acts carry their own reward.
It sounds as if your sister has a lot to be thankful for.  Perhaps it truly was a blessing in disquise.

so glad to hear things are heading in the right direction for everyone in the family. now, go get some Dora and Diego dvd's  =)  they also sell alot of educational toys with Dora. In fact you cant go anywhere without seeing Dora on something, lol.   My kids like those shows too!  

PS maybe you could get her a Dora doll, i bet she would love that!

Words cannot convey my gratitude to all of you wonderful people.  I feel like i know each and every one of you and you have all touched me.  I am very hopeful and today I can go home and let little Maddy know that I know Dora!  That is why she kept saying something like "no way boots?"  Anyway it was cute.

Brother in law just called me and they have a few facilities they are looking at, and evidently insurance is agreeing to cover.  I am SO thankful to think she could be in treatment in a matter of a few days.  I told him to tell her not to worry - kids will be loved and cared for and we will be waiting to love her too when this is over.  Please pray this all works out.  On a side note, got a SUPER job offer this morning!!  I had even forgotten I had applied so I am on cloud 9 about that.  I am going to accept of course - I just never expected it.  I guess so many crappy things have happened lately it was hard to think about something good coming along.  Stay in touch and I will try to update - much love to all and GOD BLESS!!

I'm so happy things turned out the way they did! I thin it's great your sis and husband showed up there. It shows that she truly does care and wants help. Sometimes it just takes a event like that to get through to them. I honestly thing all of this will work out just fine. Sure, it will take some time but everything is heading in the right direction. As for Dora, if you have any questions, let me know! I've been mr. mom since my daughter was 6 months old and know way to much about Dora!!!!!! I've seen every episode at least 100 times!

Thanks - I need all the help I can get.  My baby was in the Big Bird/Muppets/Mr. Rodges stage. (she is 22 now)  I am running out at lunch and grab some Dora gear, cause right now all I know is Dora, and she kept saying "No way Boots"  and something about diego.

On another bright note I have kept a lot of my daughter's old movies and dvd's (Cinderella, 101 Dalmations, Little Mermaid, etc) those should be good for a little mileage.
