Vicodin WD HELP!

I am down to 1/4 of a pill per day.  How long should I stay at this level?  I have many WD symptoms, chills, sneezing, heart pounding, ANXIETY, loss of appetite, exhaustion.  How will exercise help?  I have been taking pain medicine off and on for 17 years.  I know there are a lot of knowledgeble individuals on this board.  PLEASE help!

5 hour did not really do anything for me, but it does for some. The guy I was mentioning in the other message is basically hooked on "monster" energy drinks and he swears it does lift him. It must because his trash can is full of them and his friend is worried that he might try to steal his supply as silly as that sounds.  I have tried them and do feel a slight boost but not much as the high powered ginseng I was talking about.

Hey ann,Sorry I did not see this.I drink a rockstar coffee energy drink every morning,it doe not really do a lot but I could not drink one till about day 15 or so because when I did it would make my heart race and also throw me into a 3/4 panic attack.I think that the power bars would be great though for you.I went to wal mart and got a big jug of that muscle building protein powder. It's in the pharmacy section where the bars and stuff are.It does not work right away but it has all the aminos in it and you should try that.

Does anyone have an opinion on Five Hour Energy Shots, Energy Drinks or Power Bars to initiate some type of energy boost?

I can't take these sinus issues much longer.  I am so tired of laying in bed but I can't do much of anything else.

To see if my sinus issues are related to WD list late in the game I took 1/2 a Clonidine tablet to see what happens.

3 weeks is big!  The energy level will return.  Right now your body is fighting two things.....I would be a walking zombie with both hitting me.  Good work.

I haven't posted in a long time.  Been clean since Oct 8 - so that is 22 days.  It seems a lot longer.  Seems like so much has happened during that time.

I have had a non stop sinus infection.  I even took a full course of anti-biotics and I still have the infection.  The headaches are the worst.  I have been living off of Benadryl.

I decided to stop taking Seroquel too.  It was prescribed for sleep.  It is also an anti-depressent.  It left me groggy and feeling like I was in a fog and I didn't want to take it anymore.  I didn't feel like tapering so I just stopped CT.  Dumb move.  I couldn't lift my head off of a pillow for 4 days.

My sleep isn't too bad.  I go to sleep without too much trouble but wake up around 1 or 2am and it takes about an hour or two to get back to sleep.

My goal now is to try and make it to the gym.  I just can't get my energy back.  I have only made it to the gym once since Oct 8.

Oh ok i did not realize you were off 100%..congrats. I guess I am off 1 whole day (well in about 30 min) now . Other than WAY over eating I am doing good.

I know exactly how you feel about the exercise. About 6 years ago I was in great shape- ran about 3 times a week and it keep the weight off/etc. Then I had to bright idea to go back to school and lets just say that is when I went to pot. I am now back on the road of "exercise" recovery as well as getting off hydro. Getting back on the wagon is just like tapering- Go lite and slow at first and let your body get back into the swing of things. some start too fast and they burn out and give up. Running will suck the depression/anxiety right out of you ...
anyway glad to hear you are going good keep it up!!!

Update - Today is Day 5 - I am tired because I woke up at 2:30 am and couldn't get back to sleep.   Went to the gym at 5:30am.  The first time I have worked out in almost two years.  Severe depression is gone.  Any depression I am feeling now is different, it is the type of depression you feel from being tired.  I am very glad I haven't used.

I am not taking anything.  Today is my 5th day clean.  No real symptoms just woke up early but I am going to the gym so it isn't such a bad thing.

You can do this and you will be so happy you did.  The clarity in thinking alone is worth it.   All the other pluses are an added bonus.   Your body will thank you.

Thanks for all the info on Clonidine. I think I could have used it a few weeks ago but I think I am past the heavy WD.  I had a weird night last night. The 1/2 did not help much. Ending up waking up around 230 and felt anxiety. Took 2 more melatonin + 1 5htp and went back to bed. I am considering doing a trial run by taking nothing tonight other than Tylenol . I will wait about an hour and half to decide as that is dose time.

How much are you doing right now? The sweating is normal, had that about 3 weeks ago- it will go away on it's own after awhile. congrats to Dane...I am not too far behind you. How long did it take for you to feel better again???

Congrats Dane on your successful taper!  That is GREAT!

Hawke - if you can get some Clonidine from your doctor that would be great.  However, it sounds like you work full time.  The Clonidine made me sleepy and exhausted.  It also made it hard to walk.  I know everyone has different experiences but it definitely made it difficult for me to stand up for any length of time.

This morning was weird.  I had some sweating and overall felt like crap.  It got better after eating a banana and having some coffee.  Still trying to balance watching my weight with maintaining a pill free life.

SLEEP or EXERCISE??  That is what I am dealing with right now.  In order to exercise I need to get up early in the morning. However, I much rather sleep.  What is more important in my recovery?  I am not sure what to do and I can't ask anyone but my friends on this board.  Thanks in advance.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know how my taper went with all the advice and guidance i received from medhelp.  I tapered for 4 or 5 weeks i dont remember from percs.  I went went from 10- 12 day habit and dropped down fairly slow and tried to spread out as long as possible between doses.  I made the "JUMP" when i was down to a half a perc a day.  I had all the WD's anyway and all the advice i received was time to take the plunge.  I just wanted to share my experience with you, i hope it helps:)  My advise, flush what ever you have left and be done, i know its scary believe me, but it has to be done..Right?  Best of luck to you.....Dane

There r non addictive meds that your dr can give you to get through the wd's, including, but not limited to Clonidine. I could not have gotten through the HELL of wd's without my doctors help!!! Im not saying people cant kick this terrible habit on their own, im just saying that if u feel the wd's r to bad, and u think u may cave to get relief, GO TO YOUR DR. INSTEAD!!!!

Clonidine is regularly prescribed to help alleviate opiate withdrawal symptoms. It is mainly used to combat the sympathetic nervous system response to opiate withdrawal, namely tachycardia and hypertension, in the initial days of withdrawals. It helps take away the sweating, hot/cold flushes, and general restlessness. The sedation effect is also useful although its side effects can include insomnia, thus exacerbating an already common feature of opiate withdrawal.

Clonidine is a blood pressure med that some docs give as they also help withdrawals.

Well I know I can deal with the fat..yea I can already feel it but it's keeping me from caving -though tonight was alittle strange. After I took my 1/2 I really didn't feel it..well just a little then the symptoms came back. My face felt flush and I felt hot..well whatever it was it is going away now. I don't have my normal juice and that might be part of it. What is Clonidine ?

Well how did the rest of the night go for you? I may try to turn in early, now that I am getting on lower and lower amounts I think I may actually be able to do that again :)  Cheers!

My dr gave me a script for Clonidine when I was going through wd's, along with many other meds...it helped tremendously! I also suffer from depression, and going through wd's can really make it worse, but it will get better! It may take several weeks, but it will get better!

The main symptom I was having was a mixture of depression and anxiety.  It passed after about an hour.  I almost caved.  Came so close and I am so glad I didn't.  I wish I had some Clonidine which I had previously (long story).  The Clonidine is awesome.  I didn't have any cravings or any WD symptoms.  Anyone else try Clonidine?

Hawke - you got it so right - that is my struggle right now -get fat or get off the pills.  What a choice - I hate it but eating and drinking juices/gatorade does help with the WD symptoms.
