Vicodin addiction

Hi I am new to this, from time to time I come on here and read about everyones problems with vicodin and withdrawals and it helps a lot. It also gives me hope. I am 21 years old and have been taking vicodin/lortab/lorcet for 2 years now. Sometimes here and there id take a percocet or oxycontin but I tried to stay away from it. Ive been struggling to get off of these pills for 8 months now. I started taking them out of being depressed over a 4 year relationship that was ended because it was the only thing that made me happy. When I started, I took them in 4's and only 4 a day for close to a year, then I started taking 4 every few hours which added up to 16-20+ a day for a few months and then I got down to 8 a day. Whenever I got depressed id screw myself over by taking a bunch then feeling like **** but lately ive been taking a couple a day. I have noticed my vision is blurred, my head is a mess, im emotional, my body is killing me and im anxious as ****. Hot and cold sweats. I am a great person ive never had an addiction to drugs in my life and I put my foot down. I dont need them, and I dont want to ruin what ive got going with this amazing girl. When will this be over and will my vision and my mind go back to normal?!

Thank you. I have college tomorrow, that is going to be fun. But I have to get off of these or I will lose the love of my life.  So this is a must. Not to mention I haven't even been taking them to get high, Ive been taking them just so I dont feel like **** a few hours after my doses. Ive had enough.

Give yourself time, sounds like you really want to quit and that's what you need.  Its hard to say how long it will be before you feel 'normal' again.  But YOU WILL!!  you have to learn how to live life all over again, without the pills.  We are so used to numbing our feelings with drugs, that when we are faced with a 'feeling' (good or bad), our instinct is to use.  It makes the good feeling better, and the bad feeling go away. Be patient with the process and yourself.  You are at the right place, being here!

how long have you been on 8 per day?  it sounds like you are in w/ds...those are all the symptoms.  you will get back to normal if you get off and stay off.  it will take some time.
