Wanted to say hi--to anyone who remembers

Hi,
For those of you still around when I was coming on here a little while ago, I just wanted to say hi. I haven't been on in a while and I just got on and I see some familiar names. For those of you who remember I went to rehab at the end of last year. All of you guys helped me so much to get to that point, I just want to say thank you. I was sober for a few months and things were really great, for once I felt really genuinely good. I could wake up in the morning on my own and not needing drugs to get out of bed, that alone was amazing, things with my family, friends, work, it was all coming together, and I was living a real life. Unfortunately, recently i've relapsed :((. It is really frustrating, I feel like i'm back to the beginning in some ways, but I know what I have to do to get back to where I once was. For anyone out there reading this trying to get sober themselves, all I can say is I think you have to really want it for yourself, not for anyone else. I was addicted to oxycontin, snorting about 3 80's a day, and doing anything without it was absolutely unbearable and unmanageable, if i was not on oc, i was capable of doing nothing, and I got so worn out of trying to stop and constantly relapsing.  The thing is, I thought I really wanted to stop, but when it came down to it, I wasn't willing to do ANYTHING for my sobriety. I still hung around old places and old friends, although I was going to meetings and working the steps, I couldn't fully commit myself to it. They say half measures avail us nothing, and I think in my experience that is true. I hope I can get to the point where I can stop being so stubborn and just do what i'm told. I'm still trying, i'm not giving up, and I hope anyone out there trying to get sober, today, tomorrow, next week,  or whenever can stick with it, there is so much more out there, and for a brief moment I had a taste of it. I hope I can get back there. To everyone out there who remembers me, how are you? I hope all is well with everyone, it is so nice to see people on here still helping others.

Hi Cassie,

It is good to hear from you.

Now that you have been through rehab, you know what you need to do to get back up. Remember how good you felt when you were clean and sober and hang on to that.

Get to a meeting, tonight if you can and talk, talk, talk.

You know about people, places & things so I won't give you that lecture. Hope to see you get back on track and stick around here.

I will pray for you tonight.

Thank you, I am still going to meetings and I have a sponsor too. I had about four months sober (by far the longest ever), it's disappointing, but I feel like I am better able to get back up now then I did before. I am frustrated with myself for relapsing again, things seemed to be going well, and I let my guard down for a second, thought, well it's been four months, maybe I can just try it again one more time, wrong. Things really do pick up right where they left off. ANyways thanks for your prayers, I hope you guys are doing well. I am going to stick around now, thank you.

Reapply what you learned!  It was not a waste!  Your clean date just changed, so look at it that way.  You didn't lose those months.....they are just kept in a different place! OK?  Keep posting on here.  You will get so much help.

Just dust yourself and go for it again!  Ask for whatever help you need!!! : )

Good luck

Thank you. I wish I could have posted here two weeks ago, because after all the struggling I did before getting into rehab on here, and all the help you guys gave me I wish I could have said everything was great now. Before I relapsed (a week and a half ago) I was going to meetings, working with a sponsor, working everyday, working out, I am going back to school soon, things were actually coming together, while I was sober. I never thought I would be able to be sober for a period of time and live life and actually enjoy it, but I was. So I am going to try and get back there now. THank you guys for the support!

Not to jump in on Sophie, she is on the other side of the world (LOL) and sleeps when we are awake, etc. So I am chiming in before your curiosity drives you crazy--ha ha

ODAT=One Day At A Time. They dropped the other A along the way.

Hi Cass, Sorry to see you back under these circumstances but glad you are planning to get right back on track. I'll never forget the PMs you sent right before you told your parents about your addiction. You were in a really bad place....remember??? You don't want to ever go back there. You have to get this under control real quick. Did you tell your sponcer you relapsed? You have to tell on your addiction. Going back up for another 1 day keytag s@cks but you got to do this. You will get tons of support. I think of you often and want to see you live happily ever after. You deserve this. Your not here to be an addict. You have a great purpose in this life and your addiction will rob the world of being a better place for having you in it. Still sending much love honey, Corey
