Weaning from Tramadol

Hi, I'm currently trying to wean off tramadol.  I've tried many times in the past and failed miserably.  I'm 30 weeks pregnant and currently taking nine 50mg tabs per day.  I was taking more then that and I've managed to get it down to that.  My plan was to drop 50mg every third day.  My question is, is that a realistic taper plan coming off tramadol?  I know there are alot of people who have experience with tapering so I thought I'd check to see if that's a good plan or not.  I've tried c/t twice this pregnancy and failed.  Now that I'm in my third trimester, I don't think c/t is safe so my only option is to wean and I HAVE to do this for the baby.  I'm just scared and don't know much about weaning successfully.
Before you ask, my doc knew I was taking the tramadol at the beginning of the pregnancy but thought I got off.  I see him this coming Tuesday and plan on coming totally clean with him.
Any suggestions or encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Keep tapering and keep up with the plan to tell your Doc on Tuesday .......  You have done quite well getting down from 22 to 8 pills.... Its a long slow process.  No reason to be unfriendly ..... you are doing what you can do.  Trams are a long and slow process. Talk to your Doc and keep posting - - - and best of luck to you.........

thanks for being nice, people haven't been too friendly or encouraging to me on here about this and I understand they are just concerned about the baby so I try not to let it upset me too much but it does.
Today I drop down to 8 - 50mg tabs and so far it's going very well.  I just wanted some advice, I didn't want to go too fast but at the same time because of the baby, I feel time is of the essence.  This is the best I've ever done with weaning and I think it's because the doc has me off work and I'm able to take it easy so I'm not needing the "energy" I always seemed to get from the tram.  Mind you, when I first found out I was pregnant, I was taking around 22 pills a day so I've defiantly made alot of progress getting down to 8 a day.  I guess I'm just afraid I'll fail again as I have so many times in the past.  I'm just trying to stay focused on the baby and my other children and know that I have to do this for them.

yess weaning off is very difficult becasue u are still an addict and always want more. I would sya ur best bet is to wait till u see ur doctor and have wean u off himself. i mean this is his job lol. but coming clean to us is the first step to recovery. great job. and good luck with ur baby. please get of these for the babies sake, u could really be hurting him/her.
