Well I'm on Suboxone now

Hey guys just wanted to check in and give an update. After trying to quit C/T after 1 year off and on of Norco abuse, I couldn't hack it. I couldn't afford Subs from a Dr. so I went and bought 13 off a buddy of mine (Films). I've been taking 8Mg for 4 days and now I'm down to 4Mg and plan to taper off by this Sunday. My question is what can I expect after my last dose of Sub? How will the withdrawals be? I've heard horror stories but those are generally people who have been on Subs for years. I'm hoping since I'm only going to use them for a week and a half that my withdrawals will be minimal. So is my body technically going through withdrawals from the Norcos this whole time I'm on Subs or am I just delaying the inevitable? What do you guys think I really need advice?

The Norco w/d's should have subsided by the time you stop the Sub. It usually takes about 5 days to get through the Norco w/d's, Since you are only taking the sub for a short period and will taper yourself off you will have minimal sub w/d's, if any. I did the same thing about a year ago and had no w/d from the sub. Good Luck!

Good morning guys! Well it's been a week now and I haven't relapsed one bit! Feeling pretty good today. This weekend I chose just to rest and watch TV. I've been sleeping really good, but I have zero appetite, I have lost almost 10 pounds in one week. I think this maybe the last day I post on here because my fiancee seems to think reading negative stuff makes me feel worse. So I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped me out. This is a hard fight but it's a fight that CAN be won. I can honestly say this has been the hardest thing I've ever had to do but I finally feel like I'm turning the corner and have a grasp on my addiction problem. God bless all of you and I wish you nothing but the best! DX

I asked to be put in the office as a dispatcher when I realized I had a problem. I didnt feel comfortable taking care of another human being without me being 100%.

Congratulations on coming this far it is quite an accomplishment!  While I never advocate getting rx from anyone other than your provider I can appreciate the situation you were as rx are stupid expensive and its hard for those who are un or under insured.  I hope you continue down your path to recovery and wish you the best of luck as its not an easy road to take but your over the hump now and begin to make healthy life choices.  Again congrats!

The weekend is here! LOL Well I wasn't feeling all too special until about 3 hours ago when I caught a streak of energy and happiness. So I went and walked a mile on my break and felt very good after doing so. My chills have seemed to disappear for now. All in all I cannot complain one bit, so far Subs have really got me headed in the right direction. I have ZERO urge to take any opiates. Well I hope everyone has a good weekend, I'll try to post from home but if not I will for sure post Monday morning.

Good morning guys. Slept good again last night. Sorry I didn't respond earlier but I really appreciate the responses, it makes me feel like I'm not alone. Well it's day 4 and I feel ok, legs still feel like jelly and I'm a bit nauseous. TGIF I can't wait to get off tonight and just take 2 days to completely relax. That will put me at day 7 by the time I get back to work! So crazy! Will write more in a bit once I get to work.

His DOC was Heroin for 2 1/2 years, he smoked in a spliff, at most he was on £60 a day but the last 3 months on £30 a day.
I did query the high dosage with the doctor but he said first and foremost this is a maintenance programme so we want to get him off heroin. He asked to taper earlier but they refused. He is supervised at the moment aswell. He started his 14mg yesterday and they wanted him to do that for 2 weeks but he refused, they compromised at a week until next drop. I have also heard the horror stories about trying to get off sub and it does scare me. The pharmacist really p****d me off aswell he said you will be fine coming off this as its not addictive!!! I was amazed, of course it is. Seems like he has no idea. Anyway how are you feeling today?

Hey Dx,,,I hope you start to feel better soon. I know how the withdrawals are pure he!!. I see that you have a plan to battle the physical part of the addiction. Im curious about what you have set up as aftercare or any plan to help with the mental part of this addiction. Honestly,,in hindsight,,quitting the pills was the easy easy part,,It was living a sober life and battling the mental part that has been the hardest.  You really need to have a safety net in place. I was recently married this past June and I tried to quit the pills prior to my wedding and well,,,due to increased anxiety and the normal stress,,I didnt and I was sooo wasted and high on my wedding day. I regret that like you wouldnt believe. If only I could go back...I wish you the best and sounds like you have a plan of action. I just wanted you to be aware of the mental aspect. Congrats on getting clean!!((Hugs)) ~Bkitty

I went from norco addiction to vicoprofen addiction and when i lost my brother to heroin overdose, i quit cold turkey. Your cravings will probably be from the subox. My brother tried to kick heroin with subox and it only made it worse. My advice if you are up for it, go to tge doctors about trying wellbutrin. It helps curb withdrawal symptoms and many times when one gets addicted, there is an underlying cause, but also, just admitting we are addicts can cause depression as well, and depression can be a trigger for body aches as it is. Speak to your doctor about alternative because subox is very addictive as it is. I have a great feeling you will succeed. Stay positive .... Do things to increase endorphins like exercise or take a hot bath, go outside and heating pads are fabous!

So much of this is mental, I have a desk job so I have tons of time to sit and ponder things.

Ok not feeling too great right now lol. The runs are back in full force. My legs feel super tingly and almost jelly-like. My anxiety is starting to rise just a bit. The weird thing is I'm not craving pills or subs at all. I guess that's good right? I'm getting married in April and I'm using that as my motivation to get through this. Going back to Norcos is NOT AN OPTION! I'm almost off work so I'm going to go home and take a bubble bath. Damn why did I ever start taking pills :( so stupid!

Well I'm at 72 hrs and I feel great! I keep sitting here waiting for the wrath of the Sub withdrawal but absolutely nothing yet. I slept for 12 hours last night! For me sleep was the scariest thing for me because I'm the type of person who cannot function without it. I popped two Tylenol PMs and slept through the night. I've been taking a multi vitamin twice a day and drinking gallons of water lol. I have zero cravings which is scary because that tells me that the subs might still be in my system still and until they are completely out I won't know how bad it might get. I pray every night that I get through this with ease because I have truly learned my lesson and will never go back to popping pills. I want my life back sooooo bad it's not even funny. I just got to work now so I'll update again when I get off in 12 hours. Feel free to message me if you guys have any questions at all.

Hi eaw102,
I'm happy I can help in anyway I can. Do you mind me asking how long he was taking his DOC and how much per day? Man these doctors are evil putting patients on such high doses of Sub. 8mg is plenty IMO, 14 is just nuts. But at least he's on the rapid detox taper plan because I feel that's the best way in the long run. I've read thousands of horror stories about trying to get off of Subs after long time use.

hi dx, i will be watching your posts as my bf at the moment is tapering on subatex he is on 16mg which hes been on 14 days, today hes goes to 14mg for 3 days, then 12mg for 3 days and so on. We have no control over his taper as he is supervised at the mo. I wanted him to taper over 21days but doc put him on a maintenance programme. When he asked to taper after 2 weeks they said they havent had anyone ask that before??? thats because most of the people there are on methadone i think! Anyway hope your feeling ok and good luck. I will be watching for tips. :)

Thanks guys! Have you both detoxed from Subs before? If so, how did it go? What can I expect given the amount of time I used them for (13 days)? I'm kind of worried that I jumped off at 1mg I was hoping to get lower.

Texas is right. I personally take Melatonin because it is natural. I take mine an hour or so before I would lik to go to sleep and it works great, I dont get that hung over groggy feeling in the morning either that you get with some sleep aids.

Dx,

Congrats and hang in there.  I went about 4 days without eating really much of anything.  If you do have the flu, keep an eye on your fever and make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids.  Try to eat bananas if you can or buy some protein drinks (Odwalla) is what I used.  They are full of Vitamins and easier to get down than food.  As far as sleep went, I had a prescription for Ambien.  They make over the counter sleep aids.  Benedryl is good too and since you have the flu it will help with your nose.  Sleepy Time Tea works ok.

Well into day 2 and nothing horrible yet. Still fighting off my flu so I'm very weak. It's hard to tell what's causing my weakness and soreness. I'm starting to get that damn anxiety back a bit :( hopefully it doesn't get worse. I'm expecting things to get worse tomorrow and through the weekend. It ***** having to work, I wish I could get time off, I can't wait for the weekend I just want to relax! Oh and I have no desire to eat anything at all, might be the flu though.

Oh and the ironic part is the "buddy" of mine who I originally bought the subs off was the person who stole them back from me. Guess you can never trust a dealer huh?

Hey guys how are you all doing? Well today I jumped off from 1mg. I didn't taper off as good as I wanted because a buddy of mine stole some subs off me. Anyways, I caught the flu yesterday so I'm not sure if that's a bad or good thing? I've read that it's best to tell yourself while going through withdrawals that you just have the flu.... well I actually do lol. So far so good, the diarrhea is making it's triumph return but Imodium works great for that. Other than that I really can't complain. I know it takes a while for subs to get out of your system so it might get worse. I'm going to update this post everyday until I'm normal. OMG I CAN'T WAIT! What do you guys think? Will I go through horrible withdrawals because I didn't taper well enough? Or will I be ok because I was only on it for less than two weeks? I'm hoping the latter :(
