What do withdrawals feel like when you taper down

Can someone answer when using tapering method, from 60 to 70 mg Vicodin per day for over a year and a few months to weaning now, will get to 1/2 10 mg per day and stay on for 5 days.  What should I expect?  Can anyone share their experience with weaning down, sticking to it and what the wd are like. I'm trying to wean to give my body and brain time to adjust due to having ocd and anxiety for 20 years. TRIED ct, not going to work for me.. Those who can are super heroes.

I agree.
I was taking 80-100 mg a day for almost a decade. I tapered down to 20-30 mg. Then jumped with the help of clonidine from my dr.
I remember on day three thought i was gonna die. Day 4 was so much better. I turned the corner on day 10-12. And haven't looked back.
I'm day 38 today and like norco said life is so gooood.
I'm not 100% by any means but everyday is better than yesterday.
I remember the first time i stopped opiates it was two months and i felt normal again.
Just keep your mind positive and know it is all so worth it.
Stay strong. Life is great again. I'll never be in that delusional opiate state again. No matter what. Kill me first, I'll never go back.

3 months.. Can't wait!!!  Today I'm down to 40 mg per day but had a glass of wine and seems like it put me right into wds. I don't drink, never did..I thought it would ease the mental part but back fired on me. One glass of wine and wd happens ... Is this normal one experience this..what were your symptoms after weaning, were you bed ridden? I'm weaning to what is comfortable about 10 mg per wean every 5 to 7 days but even found this a little rough some days.

Hi , You can do this . I am a lot older the you , male 65 years old , I was takeing 100mg a day Norco , Tried Ct and could not take it , gave up on day 3 , Started a 30 day taper and got down to 20mg a day , Tried CT again and found it still was tuff but doable , The first 100 hours were tuff but not as bad as my first try at CT before tapering . About day 4 i started to feel a bit better every few days . by day 10 - 30 i started to feel much better , by day 30 i was near normal sleeping , eating , emotions , energy .

I can't help you with what to expect for wd, I just started tapering on Friday.  I went ct last Sunday and Dear Lord is that a miserable experience.  Never Again if I can help it.  My husband is helping me, and my motto is 'slow and steady wins the race'. I am decreasing by 2.5mg every six days.  I'm hoping it gives my body time to adjust, and more importantly my brain time to adjust.  So so much of this is mental.  Also something that is helping me immensely is exercise. I started last Sunday in an attempt to help my rls and have been keeping it up. I am hoping to trade one obsession (pills) for another (exercise). Today I actually woke up thinking about exercising and not my pills.  well the pills are Always there, but this week have found there way a little further back in my mind.  I see my doc next week and plan to ask her what I can expect for wd going this route.  also at the end, I plan on doing every other day for a week. probably at 2.5mg.  That is pretty much how I started.....so thought it'd be fitting to end that way.

wow that is a huge step, oh m gosh, i feel for you.  i think that everyone will agree to taper down the best you can and as long as you can.  1 week might not be able to do it for you although your go to attitude is very awesome. it might take a while your body must be so used to this i know mine was. then i started going to a methadone clinic which has it's own drawbacks finally after going there for 5 years i have gone in the past year and a half from 120 to 35 then kinda been hanging there since august due to other medical issues. back, problems, surgeries for surgical adhesions and still dealing with issues so i haven't dared to cut back any further right now.  pressure is very hard when quitting and your mind can really mess with you. i hope you are in good hands and have some good support who really know what you are going through. god bless. withdrawels are hell pure and simple this is a lot of info on these pages with vitamin supplements etc.... because the opiates take away a lot from you potassium etc... and you should drink a lot alot of water. one of my worst was the lack of energy and a lot of leg cramps and moodiness,  it is really hard. i hope you can get through this because it's no fun being tied down to all this crap.
