Clonodine keeps blood pressure down and very sedating. Plus benzos for 3 nights of each decrease then quit for 3 days swithc to ambien or Lunestra . (benzo detox worse than opiate). So I just completed 80 mg Oxy withdrawl. Last 1/2 vic 4 days ago through this method. I am still sick but not nearly as bad. I quit the benzos and am taking ambien and a few herbal remedies and manage 3-4 hrs night sleep. I have no cramps or side effects except for intestinal. No uncrotrolable cravings for opiads although I have never had more bizarre dreams than in the last 8 weeks.

finally, a "friend" with Valium came to my aid.
I am almost normal again I'm off Meth for 12 days now, and I am my old self. I still run out of energy at the end of my work day and my sweet man must do the rest, but I think tomorrow will be a "NORMAL" day...
Thanx to ALL who helped me through.

Go to the health food store and get some Melatonin...they might even have it at Walmart. It's a natural sleep aid. I know someone that takes that ExcedrinPM too. Sara

I mentioned it somewhere else but i cant remember where, but I take 100 mgs of amytriptaline each night, its supposed to help me sleep, but it doesnt always. So I found this OTC stuff that works wonders for sleep and also pain. It is called LEGATRIN PM. It will make you very sleepy so do not try to drive or anything like that. To me I start to get very sleepy, then when I try to move like from the chair to go to bed, my whole body just feels heavy like its already sleeping. Numb almost. It takes the cramping pains out of my legs and arms and helps me sleep. It costs around $12.00 a bottle of 50. I know that some walmarts carry them and so does one pharmacy Medicap here in my town. If you try it let me know what you think, or if it helps you.

Hmm... I don't know because I always had access to pills so I usually took Xanex to sleep and just a little bit would knock my ass out for a long time but it is very addictive (though not at all my DOC) not to mention illigal without a script. I know that one time I went to the ER when I was DTing and told them that I had been on anti-depressants (Lexipro) and that I ran out and didn't have a prescription and It was making me have withdrawel symptoms. And of course I was shaking and such from my actual withdrawels. They prescribed me 15 Xanex to get through it till I could get to my regular Dr. It may be better just to tell them the truth but for a lot of different reasons at the time, that wasn't an option for me... Good luck and if you don't feel comfortable doing this on your own or wany a much easier way, you could always do what I ended up doing and go to a Methadone clinic. It's not what all the rumors say it is, I promise. It's a very controlled and supervised method. The doctors know what they are doing because Methadone is especially their area of study. They know a lot about it that most regular Dr's don't bother to read up on, so I wouldn't recommend asking a regular Dr. about it because you might just get the wrong info. Methadone was a life-saver for me and is non-toxic to your body. You can take it for as long or shot time as you need and don't have to worry about your health as you do for the opiates that are most regularly abused. If you decide to try a clinic, look in the phone book 1st to see if there are any listed and if there arn't, get back to me and I'll give you a website to look at. Please keep me posted, and good luck with this, I know it's hell. I've been through it a few times. I havn't touched one Lortab since I got on Methadone though!

Blessed Be!

Hi
If it has been 3 days awake you should  sleep a bit tonight. But gad if not yes Lunsta would help a lot. Also take a very hot BATH before retiring for the night and you will fall asleep...at least for a few hours to all night.

Orange....
I hear you.  For me, this w/d (Day 4) has been moderately bad...I've had worse in the past.

In the past I've had REALLY BAD w/d where I couldn't sleep for 3 days.  HOW FRUSTRATING!!! Fatigued and sluggish but unable to sleep.  All I wanted was to sleep but when I tried I twitched, legs moved, mind spun, no matter what position I was in was uncomfortable.

I heard about a version of hell where starving people are chained to chairs only inches away from food...they are starving but can't reach the food....that is what it was like for me when I had real bad insomnia.

I've tried antihistamines (Benedryl-diphenhydramine, or Unisom-doxylamine succinate) but these would only help with 2-4 hours of sleep and the BING, I was up again.

I don't know if you have access to a doc who can prescribe a sleep med, but it might be worth a try.  Ambien or Lunesta is used for sleep and some docs prescribe Trazadone or Seroquel for sleep (in order to stay away from benzos).

Don't know if this helps...I only woke up once last night with my shirt soaked in sweat so that's a few percentage points improvement compared to the night before for me.

Hang in there-PLEASE.  I know what it is like to only want to sleep and having that little intrusive thought of "I know what will help do that.."  To use again will only reset the clock so PLEASE don't.
