by the way,it is not a controlled substance nor a narcotic.it's non-addictive,physically.
traxadone is a anti depressant but used often for insomnia.i've been onit for 6 years and it still works wonders.it's also good when going through withdrawals like you asked.i would recommend only taking it at bedtime to get the maximum effect for sleep.good luck
I am currently using Trazadone (prescibed by my doctor) as a sleep aid. My doctor had me on Ambien for a month or so and then he said that he does not like to prescribe Ambien for long periods of time, so he put me on 2 - 50mg tablets of Trazadone to take at bedtime. At first I thought what a waste, but it actually works for me and works well. Whether its addictive or not, I am not sure as I have not tried to stop using it, as I truly have problems falling asleep at night. One of the reasons he put me on it, is because I told him my mind races at 1000mph at night and I can't seem to slow it down and unwind. It is probably not labled as a "sleeping aid" but in my case it works and works well for just that. Hope that helps
watch out for chest palpatations....also if they make you depressed which they can do,stop ...doctors are back prescribing them again because they would rather give these for sleep than a narcotic sleep aid [benzo]... this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
I've heard it was for antidepressant too, either way be careful not to move from one addiction to another. If it works to sleep be careful and use only if needed and not for long period for sure
i think it started out as an antidepressant (been around awhile)...but it was found that it didnt work so well but it was a wonderful sleep aid. it gives you that same feeling as taking a xanax.
a neurologist once gave me that for migraines. i was supposed to take it every day. i took it once and it pretty much erased me for a couple of days. i don't think it's a good idea. it's too unpredictable. best of luck. sway
trazadone..or desyrel is a non-tricyclc antidepressant.i have never heard it be used for a sleep aid but you never know.
